Jeopardy! (franchise)
''Jeopardy!'' is an American media franchise that began with a television quiz show created by Merv Griffin, in which contestants are presented with clues in the form of answers, and must phrase their responses in the form of a question. Over the years, the show has expanded its brand beyond television and been licensed into products of various formats. Television ''Jeopardy!'' originated as an American television series on March 30, 1964. In its original daytime format, it ran until 1975 on NBC, then was revived by the same network for a 21-week run (with a slightly different format) from 1978 to 1979. Art Fleming hosted the program during its entire run on NBC. The current version of ''Jeopardy!'' debuted in first-run syndication in September 1984 with Alex Trebek as the second host. Merv Griffin
Mervyn Edward Griffin Jr. (July 6, 1925 – August 12, 2007) was an American television show host and media mogul. He began his career as a radio and big band singer, later appearing in film and on Broadway. From 1965 to 1986 he hosted his own talk show, '' The Merv Griffin Show''. He also created the game shows ''Jeopardy!'' and ''Wheel of Fortune'' through his production companies, Merv Griffin Enterprises and Merv Griffin Entertainment. Early life Griffin was born July 6, 1925, in San Mateo, California, to Mervyn Edward Griffin Sr., a stockbroker, and Rita Elizabeth Griffin (née Robinson), a homemaker. He had an older sister, Barbara. When he was a child, Griffin used to play Hangman games with his sister during family road trips. Bob Harris (born October 15, 1963) is an American radio commentator, writer, comedian, and former ''Jeopardy!'' champion. Lowenthal (born September 5, 1948) is an author and Adjunct Professor at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD He has written five books and over 90 articles or studies on intelligence and national security. Harry Friedman
Harry Friedman (born November 12, 1946) is an American television industry executive. He was the executive producer of the syndicated game shows ''Jeopardy!'' and '' Wheel of Fortune'' from 1999 to 2020. Initially he shared the title of executive producer with the shows' creator, Merv Griffin, but from Griffin's 2000 retirement until his own 2020 retirement, he served as their sole executive producer. Arthur Fleming Fazzin (May 1, 1924 – April 25, 1995) was an American actor and television host. He hosted the first version of the television game show ''Jeopardy!'', which aired on NBC from 1964 until 1975 and again from 1978 to 1979. Early life Fleming was born in New York City. His parents, William and Marie Fazzin, had immigrated to the United States from Austria. They were a popular dance team in Europe and brought their show to America. Their son Art was a varsity letterman football player at James Monroe High School in New York City, standing , weighing .
