Jens Holmboe (politician)
Jens Holmboe (14 July 1821 – 13 July 1891) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party of Norway, Conservative Party. A jurist by education, he was a member of the Storting, Norwegian Parliament for five terms, and held several different government posts from 1874 to 1884. Personal life He was born in Tromsøe as the son of Michael Wide Holmboe (1791–1863) and his wife Anna Rasch Schjelderup (1794–1878). He had several brothers and sisters, including businessman Conrad Holmboe, Hans Conrad Holmboe. His grandfather Jens Holmboe (bailiff), of the same name was a bailiff, and his uncles Even Hammer Holmboe and Hans Holmboe and Leonhard Christian Borchgrevink Holmboe became involved in politics. In 1851 he married Bergithe Caroline Killengren from Tromsøe. The couple had a son Michael Holmboe and one daughter. Bergithe died in 1853, a week after giving birth to the daughter. Jens Holmboe (botanist)
Jens Holmboe (5 May 1880 – 24 July 1943) was a Norwegian botanist, professor and author. Jens Holmboe was born at Tvedestrand in Aust-Agder, Norway. He was the oldest son of physician Michael Holmboe (1852-1918) and his wife Eleonore Vogt (1857–1901). His grandfather Jens Holmboe was a prominent politician. He attended Oslo Cathedral School and studied botany at the University of Christiania (now University of Oslo). He was hired as a curator of the Botanical Department of Bergen Museum in 1906, and became professor there in 1914. In 1925 he was appointed professor at the University of Oslo and manager of the University Botanical Garden. Among his notable publications were ''Planterester i norske Torvmyrer'' in 1903, ''Studies on the Vegetation of Cyprus'' in 1914, and the six-volume ''Våre ville planter'', written with Torstein Lagerberg and published between 1937 and 1940. Troms
Troms (; se, Romsa; fkv, Tromssa; fi, Tromssa) is a former county in northern Norway. On 1 January 2020 it was merged with the neighboring Finnmark county to create the new Troms og Finnmark county.
