Jelloway, Ohio
Jelloway is an unincorporated community in Jefferson Township, Knox County, Ohio, United States. Jelloway is located at the junction of Ohio State Route 3 and Ohio State Route 205, northeast of Mount Vernon. History Jelloway was originally called Brownsville, and under the latter name was laid out in 1840. The present name comes from nearby Jelloway Creek. A post office called Jelloway was established in 1842, and remained in operation until 1918. Mount Vernon is a city in Knox County, Ohio, United States. It is located northeast of Columbus. The population was 16,990 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Knox County. History The community was platted in 1805, and named after Mount Vernon, the estate owned by George Washington. State Route 3 (SR 3) is a major north–south (physically northeast-southwest) highway in Ohio which leads from Cincinnati to Cleveland by way of Columbus. It is the second longest state route in Ohio.
