Jeffrey Lynskey
Jeffrey Lynskey (born 1977) is an Irish hurling manager and former player who was the current manager of the Galway minor hurling team and also works as an English and history teacher in Galway Community College. Playing career College Lynskey first came to prominence as a hurler with St. Mary's College in Galway. Having played in every grade as a hurler, he was centre-back on the college's senior hurling team that won the Connacht Championship in 1994. Lynskey was later in the same position when the North Monastery defeated St. Mary's College by 1-10 to 1-06 in the All-Ireland final. University During his studies at NUI Galway, Lynskey was a regular on the college's senior hurling team that played in the Fitzgibbon Cup. Club Lynskey joined the Liam Mellows club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels. Hurling
Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. Limerick GAA
The Limerick County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Luimneach) or Limerick GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Limerick. Pat Hoban (hurler)
Patrick Hoban (born 1968) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. At club level he lined out with Mullinavat and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. Hoban later served as a manager with various Kilkenny teams. Playing career Born in Mullinavat, County Kilkenny, Hoban first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the local club. He eventually joined the club's top adult team and was a member of their County Intermediate Championship-winning teams in 1989 and 2001. Hoban first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Kilkenny minor team in 1986 before later winning a Leinster Championship medal with the under-21 team in 1988. Liam Cahill (born 13 October 1977) is an Irish hurling manager, former selector and player. He has been manager of the Tipperary county team since 18 July 2022. Playing career College Cahill first came to prominence as a hurler with Scoil Ruáin in Killenaule. In 1992 he was a member of the school's junior hurling team that won the All-Ireland Vocational Championship after a 3-04 to 2-04 defeat of St Colman’s Vocational School from Gort. Club Cahill joined the Ballingarry club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels. He enjoyed championship success in the minor grade, winning back-to-back championship medals in 1994 and 1995. Brian Hanley
Brian Hanley (born 1974) is an Irish hurling coach and former who played as a midfielder for the Athenry senior hurling team. Hanley enjoyed a successful playing career at club level with Athenry at the height of their power throughout the nineties. He was a midfielder with that team and collected three All-Ireland medals, seven Connacht medals and seven county club championship medals. In retirement from playing, Hanley has become involved in team management. At club level, he has served as manager and assistant with the Liam Mellows and Garrycastle senior teams. Hanley was appointed manager of the Westmeath senior hurling team in April 2011. Mattie Murphy
Matthew "Mattie" Murphy is an Irish former hurling manager and former player. Though he was manager of the Galway senior hurling team on two occasions, was as manager of the Galway minor team that he experienced his greatest success in terms of major titles won. Born in Turloughmore, County Galway, Murphy was introduced to hurling in his youth. After coming to prominence at underage levels with the Turloughmore club, he later transferred to Gort. A two-time Connacht medal winner with the Gort senior team, Murphy also won two county senior championship medals. Murphy has been involved at coaching at all levels at club and inter-county for four decades. 2018 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship
The 2018 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 88th staging of the All-Ireland minor hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. It is the primary inter-county hurling competition for boys aged between fifteen and seventeen. The championship began on 12 May 2018 and ended on 19 August 2018. Galway were the defending champions and successfully defended the title after a 0-21 to 0-14 win over Kilkenny in the final on 19 August. The 2018 championship saw the biggest change in format since the introduction of the "back-door system" for beaten provincial finalists in 1997. The 2017 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 87th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. It is the primary inter-county hurling championship for boys under the age of eighteen. The championship began on 5 April 2017 and ended on 3 September 2017. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork in a Munster semi-final replay. On 3 September 2017 Galway won the championship following a 2-17 to 2-15 defeat of Cork in the All-Ireland final. This was their 11th All-Ireland title and their first in two championship seasons.
