Jefferson District
The AA Jefferson District is a district in the Virginia High School League. There are eight member schools. The District is named in honor of Thomas Jefferson, and as might be guessed, member schools are clustered around Charlottesville Charlottesville, colloquially known as C'ville, is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Virginia High School League
The Virginia High School League (VHSL) is the principal sanctioning organization for interscholastic athletic competition among public high schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The VHSL first sponsored debate and also continues to sponsor state championships in several academic activities. Private and religious schools and teams of homeschooled students belong to other sanctioning organizations, the largest of which is the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association. Proposals in the Virginia General Assembly to mandate that the VHSL allow homeschooled students to compete for the public high school they would otherwise attend have failed to pass. Charlottesville, colloquially known as C'ville, is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Albemarle High School is a public high school serving grades 9 through 12. It is a part of Albemarle County Public Schools and is located just outside Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. The principal is Darah Bonham, appointed in 2019. Albemarle High School offers Advanced Placement and dual enrollment classes through nearby Piedmont Virginia Community College. Charlottesville High School is a public high school in the independent city of Charlottesville, Virginia, serving students from 9th to 12th grade. It is a part of Charlottesville City Schools. It is the second largest high school in the region with a student population of approximately 1,200. Fluvanna County High School is a public school about two miles west of Palmyra, Virginia on Virginia State Route 53. It opened in 1934 as one of the first county consolidated high schools in the U.S. Commonwealth of Virginia. The school is noted for its unique nickname, the Flying Flucos. History The original Fluvanna County High School was located in Carysbrook, Virginia. Louisa County High School
Louisa County High School (LCHS) is a secondary school for students of Louisa County, Virginia in the United States. It is the school for students in the county in grades 9-12. History Louisa County High School was created by the consolidation of Louisa, Mineral and Apple Grove high schools, opening for classes in 1940. The high school was integrated in fall 1969. The largest class in LCHS history was the Class of 2009, which graduated 358 students. The 2011 Virginia earthquake caused significant damage to the school. Following an investigation, the building was condemned. As a temporary measure, the high school students shared the middle school for the next several months. Monticello High School (MHS) is a suburban public high school located in Albemarle County, Virginia, United States outside Charlottesville. Opened in 1998, it is one of three traditional comprehensive high schools in the Albemarle County Public Schools System. The school is named after Monticello, the nearby estate of President Thomas Jefferson. With an enrollment of 1,185 students in grades 9 through 12, Monticello receives students from Walton and Burley Middle Schools, which cover the southern and eastern portions of Albemarle county.
