Jefferson County School District 251 is a school district headquartered in Rigby, Idaho. History In 2015, the district had 5,106 students. In 2019, that number was up to 5,901. Luke O'Roark of the ''Post Register'' wrote in 2019 that the district is "one of the fastest growing school districts in the area." Lisa Sherick served as superintendent until 2019. In 2019, Chad Martin became the superintendent. In addition to Rigby, the district includes Lewisville, Menan, and Roberts. 2021 shooting On May 6, 2021, Rigby Middle School was the site of a school shooting that left two students and an adult injured. A female sixth-grader was taken into custody. In response, Governor of Idaho Brad Little tweeted, "I am praying for the lives and safety of those involved in today's tragic events. The ''Post Register'' is a U.S. daily newspaper serving the Idaho Falls, Idaho, area, as well as Jackson, Wyoming, and West Yellowstone, Montana. It is owned by the Adams Publishing Group. Brad Little
Bradley Jay Little (born February 15, 1954) is an American politician serving as the 33rd governor of Idaho since January 2019. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the 42nd lieutenant governor of Idaho from 2009 to 2019 and as an Idaho state senator from 2001 to 2009. Rigby High School
Rigby High School is a four-year public high school in the western United States, located in Rigby, Idaho. Part of the Jefferson County School District 251, the approximate enrollment is 2,000 students in grades 9 to 12, from Rigby and surrounding communities. The school colors of RHS are maroon, white, and gold, and the mascot is a Trojan. History Rigby High School was established in 1912, with the first graduation in 1916. The school was originally located near Rigby City Park. The mascot was originally a Red Devil, and the school colors were red and white. It wasn't until the early 1950s, when a high school located in the smaller, neighboring town of Menan burnt down and its students came to Rigby, that the school was given the mascot of the Trojans.
