Jeff Wang
Jeff Wang () is a Taiwanese actor and television host. He was previously contracted to MediaCorp and was based in Singapore for over a decade. He was a prominently a full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1999 to 2010. As he decided to pursue a career in singing, he left MediaCorp in 2010 and returned to his native Taiwan. Career Wang was overall male champion on Star Search Singapore 1999 and was awarded a contract with MediaCorp. He began acting minor roles in various dramas and is best known for his role as the villain Ying Tiancheng in '' Holland V'', which was voted the Top 10 Most Memorable Villains at the Star Awards 2007 anniversary special celebrating 25 years of Chinese drama. His big break in hosting came when he replaced Kym Ng and Bryan Wong as host of ''City Beat'' and was nominated for the Best Variety Show Host award twice. 2014 Kaohsiung Gas Explosions
On 31 July 2014, a series of gas explosions occurred in the Cianjhen and Lingya districts of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, following reports of gas leaks earlier that night. Thirty-two people were killed and 321 people were injured. Event The explosions Eyewitnesses reported a smell of gas and white smoke coming out of manholes near Kaisyuan 3rd Road and Ersheng 1st Road in Cianjhen District on 31 July 2014 at 20:46, over three hours prior to the incident. The explosions occurred later at 23:57 on Yisin Road, Ersheng Road, Sanduo Road and Guanghua Road. Witnesses reported seeing fireballs soaring into the sky and flames reaching 15 stories high. The blasts ripped up roads, trapped and overturned cars and firetrucks, and caused a blackout to the electrical grid. About 6 km of road length were damaged. SuperBand
''SuperBand'' () is a spin-off of '' Project SuperStar'', a popular singing talent-search competition in Singapore. Contestants are bands of 2 to 6 people. To mark the opening of the first season, a special SuperBand Big Jam where all the 18 bands made their debut at Suntec City's Fountain of Wealth, and was aired as a special at 8:45pm on April 9, 2006. After which, the show was broadcast at 7:30pm on Monday starting from April 10, 2006 for the first 4 episodes of Season 1. Subsequent episodes were aired at 8:00pm. The results show were aired 'live' at 11:30pm on MediaCorp Channel U. For Season 2, all shows were on Monday at 8:00pm from June 16, 2008 with the results show delayed at 11:30pm after an earlier recording at about 10:00pm. Project SuperStar Season 2 (2006–07)
The second season of the Singaporean Reality television, reality talent show ''Project SuperStar'' began on 8 November 2006 on Channel U (Singaporean TV channel), MediaCorp Channel U. The show is hosted by Quan Yi Fong and Jeff Wang. The overall winner received talent management contracts with Warner Music Group, Warner Music Singapore and Mediacorp, MediaCorp. Billy Koh, Lee Wei Song, Li Feihui, Roy Loi, Anthony Png and Dawn Yip returned as judges for their second season. On 4 February 2007, winner of the male category Daren Tan was announced as the overall winner of the season, with female category winner Lydia Tan as the overall runner-up.
