Jeff Tobolski is a former member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, who represented the 16th district which includes all or parts of the suburbs Franklin Park, Northlake, Stone Park, Melrose Park, Maywood, Hillside, Westchester, Brookfield, North Riverside, Berwyn, Riverside, Cicero, Stickney, Forest View, Lyons, La Grange, Summit, Countryside, McCook, Bedford Park and the Archer Heights neighborhood in the City of Chicago. Early life Tobolski was born and raised in McCook, Illinois, where he currently lives with his wife and daughter. He has graduated from both St. Hugh School in Lyons, Illinois and St. Joseph High School in Westchester. He played basketball for head coach Gene Pingatore during his time at St. Joseph. The Cook County Board of Commissioners is a legislative body made up of 17 commissioners who are elected by district, and a president who is elected county-wide, all for four-year terms. Berwyn, Illinois
Berwyn is a suburban city in Cook County, Illinois, coterminous with Berwyn Township, which was formed in 1908 after breaking off from Cicero Township. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 57,250. History Before being settled, the land that is now Berwyn was traversed by Native American trails. The most important trails converged near the Chicago portage, and two notable routes crossed what is today Berwyn. A branch of the Trail to Green Bay crossed Berwyn at what is now Riverside Drive, and the Ottawa Trail spanned the southern end of the city. Gene Pingatore
Eugene Louis Pingatore (October 25, 1936 – June 26, 2019) was an American basketball coach who served as the head boys' basketball coach at St. Joseph High School (Westchester, Illinois), St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. In 50 seasons as head coach at St. Joseph, he compiled a record of 1,035–383—the most wins of any Illinois high school basketball coach—and led his teams to two Illinois High School Boys Basketball Championships, in 1999 and 2015. In the late 1970s, Pingatore mentored Isiah Thomas, who went on to star in college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball, Indiana Hoosiers and in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Detroit Pistons. Archer Heights is a community area in Chicago, Illinois, one of the 77 official community areas of Chicago. Archer Avenue runs from south of Chicago's downtown area, through the southwest side of Chicago and beyond into the southwest suburbs, along what was once a Native American trail. Countryside is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 6,420. History The land where Countryside sits was originally inhabited by the Potawatomi Indians and later by early American pioneers in the beginning of the 19th century. Settler Joseph Vial and his family were among the first non-native people to settle in the Countryside area in 1833. The area remained large expanses of rural farmland until the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, when the fire sent thousands of city dwellers into what is now west suburban Chicago. Land sold for only $2 an acre, which made areas such as Countryside a welcome respite from the congestion and industry in Chicago. Summit is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 11,161 at the 2020 census. The name Summit, in use since 1836, refers to the highest point on the Chicago Portage between the northeast-flowing Chicago River and the southwest-flowing Des Plaines River located just north of the village. Argo is a subdivision annexed by Summit in 1911 when it was new. Named for the nearby cornstarch and baking powder manufacturing plant, it developed separately from the older part of the village. Lyons is a village in Lyons Township, Cook County, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census, the population was 10,817. The Chicago Portage National Historic Site is located in Lyons. History Lyons was incorporated in 1888, though activity in the area dates back much further.
