Colorado's 16th Senate District
Colorado's 16th Senate district is one of 35 districts in the Colorado Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Chris Kolker since 2023. Prior to redistricting the district was represented by Democrat Tammy Story and Republican Tim Neville. Geography District 16 is based in the far western suburbs of Denver, covering all of Gilpin County and parts of Boulder County and Jefferson County, as well as the southwestern corner of Denver proper. Other communities in the district include Superior, Central City, Golden, Evergreen, Conifer, Genesee, Indian Hills, Kittredge, West Pleasant View, and portions of Columbine. Dan Gibbs
Dan Gibbs (born c. 1976) is a politician in the U.S. state of Colorado. He currently serves as the executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. Gibbs worked as an outdoor guide and as a staffer for U.S. Representative Mark Udall before being elected to the Colorado House of Representatives as a Democrat in 2006. In the legislature, Gibbs was noted for his focus on transportation and environment issues in the state legislature, particularly in response the fire dangers posted by Colorado's mountain pine beetle epidemic — Gibbs is a volunteer wildland firefighter and has served fighting fires in Colorado and California. Tim Neville is a former Republican member of the Colorado Senate from the 16th district. Neville was born and raised in Florida. He has a degree in business administration from Regis University and has lived in Jefferson County, Colorado since 1988. His professional experience includes managing Neville Insurance Associates, working in food distribution sales, and working in restaurant management. Neville was appointed to the state senate in 2011 from District 22 and after redistricting he was elected from District 16 in November, 2014, when he defeated incumbent Democrat Sen.
