Jean Wooden Cunningham
Jean Wooden Cunningham (born June 28, 1946) is an American politician and lawyer, and currently the vice-chairman of the Virginia Parole Board. Early life and education Born in Hampton, Virginia, Cunningham graduated from Phenix High School, then received her bachelor's degree from Virginia State University. She then worked for a year as a junior high school teacher in Prince George County, Virginia. After accepting a job with International Business Machines, she moved to New York. She earned a J.D. degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. Career Cunningham began her legal career in the law department of the Ford Motor Company, specializing in labor law. After three years, she accepted a position with Reynolds Metals Company and moved to Richmond, Virginia. The Links, Inc
The Links is an American invitation-only social and service organization of prominent Black women in the United States. Founded in 1946, it is the largest nationwide organization of Black women in the USA. Members include multiple prominent women, including Kamala Harris, Marian Wright Edelman, and the late Betty Shabazz. As of 2021, there were 16,000 members in nearly 300 chapters. The organization was founded in Philadelphia, but since 2022, it is headquartered in Washington, D.C. History The Links, Incorporated, a nonprofit corporation, was founded in 1946 in Philadelphia by seven prominent Black women. The organization was founded by college-educated women dedicated to public service with an emphasis on programs that assist the African American community. The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) is a non-profit volunteer organization for African American women. Its members address common issues in their communities, families and personal lives, promoting gender and racial equity. History The organization has its roots in the Coalition of 100 Black Women, founded in New York City in 1970 by Edna Beach and 23 other African-American women. Jewell Jackson McCabe, one of the original founders, became President of the New York chapter in 1977 and set out to create a national coalition. Within ten months, the organization had 37 chapters in 20 states. By 1981, the organization had grown to over 500 members, gaining local and national media recognition. Terry McAuliffe
Terence Richard McAuliffe (born February 9, 1957) is an American businessman and politician who served as the 72nd governor of Virginia from 2014 to 2018. A member of the Democratic Party, he was co-chairman of President Bill Clinton's 1996 reelection campaign, chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2001 to 2005 and chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign. McAuliffe was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination in the 2009 Virginia gubernatorial election. Henrico County , officially the County of Henrico, is located in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 334,389 making it the fifth-most populous county in Virginia. Henrico County is included in the Greater Richmond Region. There is no incorporated community within Henrico County; therefore, there is no incorporated county seat either. Laurel, an unincorporated CDP, serves this function.
