Jean Lèques
Jean Lèques (31 August 1931 – 1 June 2022) was a New Caledonian politician. He served as mayor of Nouméa from 1986 to 2014; between 1999 and 2001 he was the first sitting president of the government of New Caledonia New Caledonia is a French sui generis collectivity with a system of government based on parliamentarism and representative democracy. A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a head of state (including the Pope) or representative for service to the monarch, the church or the country, especially in a military capacity.
