Jean-Pierre Soucy
Jean-Pierre Soucy (born December 20, 1952) is an educator, civil servant and former politician in Quebec. He represented Portneuf in the Quebec National Assembly from 2003 to 2007 as a Liberal. He was born in Quebec City, the son of André Soucy and Gérardine Côté, and was educated at the Université Laval, the Université du Québec à Montréal and the Université de Sherbrooke. He taught English and Physical Education at Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier. Soucy was director general for Fossambault-sur-le-Lac from 1995 to 1999 and for the Regional Municipality of Portneuf from 2000 to 2003. Portneuf is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, which elects members to the National Assembly. It notably includes the municipalities of Saint-Raymond, Pont-Rouge, Donnacona and Neuville. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Shannon, Quebec
Shannon is a city in Quebec, Canada, along the Jacques-Cartier River northwest of Quebec City. It was formed in December 1946 when it separated from the territory of Sainte-Catherine-de-Fossambault, following protests of this part of the population against the municipal taxes. The community was founded by Irish immigrants and once contained a substantial English-speaking population, though today it is chiefly French-speaking.
