Jean-Louis Schiltz
Jean-Louis Schiltz (born 14 August 1964 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgian lawyer and retired politician for the Christian Social People's Party (CSV). Early life and education Schiltz studied law in Luxembourg and Paris, and became a lawyer in 1989. Career Schiltz was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2004 and subsequently served as minister in Jean-Claude Juncker's government, including as Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs and Minister delegate for communications. On the 22 February 2006 he additionally became Minister for Defence. He stepped down from these positions with the formation of a new government on 23 July 2009, and became the leader of the CSV group in the newly elected Chamber of Deputies. Charles Goerens
Charles Goerens (born 6 February 1952) is a Luxembourgish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Luxembourg. He is a member of the Democratic Party, part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. Early career He studied agricultural science before he was first elected to the northern district constituency as a member of the Democratic Party in 1979. From 1989 until 1994 he was its chairman. Political career Goerens was a member of the European Parliament from 1982 to 1984, from 1994 to 1999, and again from 2009 to present. He served as Minister for Cooperation, Humanitarian Action, and Defence in the government of Jean-Claude Juncker from 7 August 1999 until 31 July 2004. He also briefly served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 20 July 2004 until 31 July 2004. Lucien Thiel
Lucien Thiel (14 February 1943 – 25 August 2011) was a Luxembourgian politician and journalist. He was a member of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV), whose group he led in the Chamber of Deputies from 1 March 2011 until his sudden death six months later. Born in Luxembourg City, Thiel studied journalism at university. From 1967 to 1979, Thiel was the editor of ''Revue'', before becoming the editor-in-chief of '' d'Lëtzebuerger Land'': a position that he held from 1980 to 1989. From 1990 to 2004, he was a director of the Luxembourg Bankers' Association (ABBL). From 2000 to 2002, Thiel was the President of the government's Economic and Social Council (french: Conseil économique et social). Thiel ran for the Chamber of Deputies in the 2004 election, running for the CSV in Centre. He received the sixth-most votes among CSV candidates — 16,646 — allowing him to be elected easily. Michel Wolter
Michel Wolter (born 13 September 1962 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgian politician. He was the youngest-ever member of the Chamber of Deputies when elected in 1984, and served as Minister for the Interior from 1995 to 2004. He is also a businessman and a former international table tennis player. Michel Wolter grew up in Esch-sur-Alzette, second largest city of the country. He studied economics at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne from 1981 to 1985. Wolter was an international table tennis player from 1980 to 1984. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies at the 1984 election, on the Christian Social People's Party ticket. Aged 21 at that time, he is today still the youngest ever elected member. Claude Wiseler
Claude Wiseler (born 30 January 1960 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgish politician. He has been a member of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) since 1983, and served in the government led by Jean-Claude Juncker until 2013. He attended the Athénée de Luxembourg, before studying literature in Paris. He returned to the Athénée to teach language in 1983, which he continued to do until 1988. From 1987 to 1999, he served as an adviser to the government on education issues. He became General Secretary of the Christian Social People's Party in 1995. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the 1999 election, finishing sixth amongst CSV candidates in the Centre constituency, where six CSV deputies were elected.
