Jayalalitha
Jayaram Jayalalithaa (24 February 1948 – 5 December 2016) was an Indian politician and actress who served as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for more than fourteen years over six terms between 1991 and 2016. From 9 February 1989 to 5 December 2016, she was the 5th and longest-serving general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), a Dravidian party whose cadre revered her as their "'" (Mother) and "'" (Revolutionary leader). Her critics in the media and the opposition accused her of fostering a personality cult and of demanding absolute loyalty from AIADMK legislators and ministers, who often publicly prostrated themselves before her. The chief minister of Tamil Nadu is the chief executive of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. In accordance with the Constitution of India, the governor is a state's ''de jure'' head, but ''de facto'' executive authority rests with the chief minister. Following elections to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, the state's governor usually invites the party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government. The governor appoints the chief minister, who is accountable to the assembly through his council of ministers. Fourth Jayalalithaa Ministry
The Fourteenth legislative assembly election was held on 13 April 2011 to elect members from 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Results were released on 13 May 2011. Two major parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) faced the election as coalitions of multiple parties with the DMK front consisting of 8 parties and the AIADMK of 11 parties. As O. Panneerselvam who was Chief Minister from 2 March 2002 resigned, Governor appointed J. Jayalalithaa as the Chief Minister to head the New Government and appointed 26 more ministers on the same day. It was her return to power as she had resigned the post earlier on 21 September 2001. Sixth Jayalalithaa Ministry
J. Jayalalithaa was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 23 May 2016. Two major political parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) faced the assembly election held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats (except Thanjavur and Aravakurichi for which held on 26 October 2016) of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in the state since 1984 with a simple majority. After the General Elections held on 10 May 2001 the Governor appointed J. Jayalalithaa as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister appointed five more Members C. Ponnaiyan, Dr. M. Thambi Durai, D. Jayakumar, Ayyaru Vandayar and R. Sarojaa as ministers in the Council of Ministers on the same day. On 19 May 2001 the Governor appointed nineteen more members in the council. Fathima Beevi
M. Fathima Beevi (born 30 April 1927) is a former judge of the Supreme Court of India. Appointed to the apex Court in 1989, she became the first female judge to be a part of the Supreme Court of India, and the first Muslim woman to be appointed to any of the higher judiciaries in country. On her retirement from the court, she served as a member of the National Human Rights Commission and later as the Governor of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu from 1997 to 2001.
