Jay Washington
Anthony Jay Washington (born November 10, 1981) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for Yokohama Excellence of the Japanese B.League. College career Born in Zambales, Philippines, Washington played for the Eckerd College Tritons during his college career. In 2002, he had per-game averages of 20.5 pts (on 36% 3PT shooting) and 3.9 rebs in 32 games. He then raised his averages to 21.7 pts and 5.5 rebs in 32 games the next season. For his senior season, Washington was named to the Sunshine State Conference All Tournament Team. Washington also suited up for the Gwinnett Grizzlies at the 2004 LA Summer Pro League. Professional career Washington was selected 1st overall draft pick in 2005 PBA draft by the FedEx Express and was traded to the Talk 'N Text Phone Pals during draft day. The NorthPort Batang Pier is a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team that first played in the 2012–13 PBA season. The team took over the franchise of the Powerade Tigers in 2012 after it was sold to Sultan 900 Capital, Inc. Besides NorthPort, team owner Mikee Romero also co-owned the AirAsia Philippine Patriots of the ASEAN Basketball League. 2009 PBA Fiesta Conference
The 2009 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Fiesta Conference or known as the 2009 Motolite PBA Fiesta Conference for sponsorship reasons, was the last conference of the 2008-09 PBA season. It started on February 28 and finished on July 17. The tournament was shortened to accommodate the training of the national basketball team for the FIBA Asia Championship 2009 qualifying tournament for the 2010 FIBA World Championship. The last conference had games on Thursdays and Saturdays. The tournament is an import-laden format, which allows an import or a non-Filipino player for each team and with a new height limit of 6-foot-6. Philippine Basketball League
The Philippine Basketball League (PBL) was a commercial semi-professional basketball league in the Philippines. The league was composed of several commercial teams with several collegiate and provincial stars. History The PBL was formed on May 6, 1983, a brainchild of San Miguel Corporation chairman Danding Cojuangco, under its original name the Philippine Amateur Basketball League (PABL). It was the successor of the defunct Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA), which folded during the early-1980s. During the inaugural PABL tournament, 37 teams divided into four divisions from collegiate and commercial ranks participated in the tournament that was played in the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum. 2017 PBA All-Star Week
The 2017 PBA All-Star Week was the annual all-star week of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)'s 2016–17 season which was on April 26 to 30, 2017 on three different venues covering Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The all-star week kicked off in Cagayan de Oro (Mindanao) on April 26, then was held in Lucena (Luzon) together with the skills challenge on April 28, then capped off on April 30 in Cebu City. Three PBA All-Star teams, one each with players representing Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao pitted against Gilas Pilipinas, the men's national basketball team. 2013 PBA All-Star Weekend
The 2013 PBA All-Star Weekend was the annual all-star weekend of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)'s 2012–13 PBA season. The events were held from May 1 to 6, 2013 at the Davao del Sur Coliseum, Digos City, Davao del Sur. Highlighting the weekend was the Gilas Pilipinas vs. PBA All-Stars game, which was held at the final day of the weekend.
