Jay W. McGee
James Wesley McGee (January 23, 1950 – January 8, 2021), known professionally as Jay W. McGee, was an American-Canadian musician. He was most noted for several early rap singles released under the stage name Mr. Q, including "Ladies Delight", the first known Canadian hip hop single. Background A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, McGee moved to Flint, Michigan, in 1968 to work at the General Motors plant. After visiting Toronto, Ontario, several times, he moved to the city in 1974. In Toronto, he began to work as a musician, performing with bands such as Giant Step, Salongo and Crack of Dawn over the course of his career. Demetrius (Demo) Cates is an American-Canadian musician. He is most noted as a two-time Juno Award nominee for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, receiving nominations at the Juno Awards of 1985 for "Memories of Moments" and at the Juno Awards of 1989 for "Secret Love". Cates began his musical career in Detroit, Michigan as a member of the soul/funk band The Fabulous Counts. Sattalites
The Sattalites are a Canadian reggae group. Founded in Toronto, Ontario as a music school in 1981, the band has become one of the most successful Canadian reggae ensembles. They signed with the Canadian record label Solid Gold Records early in their career and have been with them ever since. Their style has been described as a radio-friendly combination of lover's rock and dancehall. Regent Park
Regent Park is a neighbourhood located in downtown Toronto, Ontario built in the late 1940s as a public housing project managed by Toronto Community Housing. It sits on what used to be a significant part of the Cabbagetown neighbourhood and is bounded by Gerrard Street East to the north, River Street to the east, Shuter Street to the south and Parliament Street to the west. "O Canada" (french: Ô Canada, italic=no) is the national anthem of Canada.
