Jaume Perich
Jaume Perich Escala, better known as El Perich (Barcelona, November 5, 1941-Mataró, February 1, 1995), was a Catalan writer, cartoonist and humorist. He was also the translator of French series such as Asterix, Blueberry and Achille Talon, among others. Biography In 1964 he started as editor of the publisher Bruguera. In 1966 he published his first comic in the press, in newspapers such as ''La Soli'', ''El Correo Catalán'', ''La Vanguardia'' and ''El Periódico de Cataluña''. He also helped with the magazine '' Bang!'' In 1971 he wrote ''Autopista'', a compilation of aphorisms, short sentences and somewhat political puns that appeared in newspapers. Then he published another 20 books with similar characteristics, among them the series ''Noticias del 5º Canal''. He was one of the founders of the comics magazine '' Hermano Lobo'' (1972). The Gat Perich International Humor Prize, (Premi Internacional d'Humor Gat Perich) is an international award to cartoonists or humorists given in memory of Spanish cartoonist Jaume Perich (1941–1995). It has been awarded since 1995. The prize consists in a silver figure of one of the famous cats drawn by Perich, holding a pencil. Antonio Fraguas de Pablo, better known as Forges (17 January 1942 – 22 February 2018), was a Spanish graphic humorist. His artistic name is based on the translation to Catalan of the word ''fraguas''. Biography Born in Madrid, was the son of a Catalan mother and Galician father (the writer and journalist Antonio Fraguas Saavedra), was baptized with the name Rafael Antonio Benito Fraguas de Pablo, and spent his childhood in a large family in which he is the second of nine brothers. He was a bad student, but a great reader of Richmal Crompton and her William Brown books. He studied in Madrid high school (at the Cervantes Institute) and telecommunications engineering – which he did not finish – and Social Sciences. In 1956, at age 14, he began working as a telecine technician at Televisión Española and as an image mixer since 1962. Manuel Vázquez Montalbán
Manuel Vázquez Montalbán (14 June 1939–18 October 2003) was a prolific Spanish writer from Catalonia: journalist, novelist, poet, essayist, anthologue, prologist, humorist, critic and political prisoner as well as a gastronome and a FC Barcelona supporter. Biography Vázquez Montalbán was born in Barcelona on 14 June 1939. His parents did not register his birth until 27 July; many sources show 27 July or 14 July as his birth date. He studied Philosophy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and was also a member of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia. He spent 18 months in prison after attending a 1962 miner's strike. Mataró
Mataró () is the capital and largest town of the ''comarca'' of the Maresme, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia Autonomous Community, Spain. It is located on the Costa del Maresme, to the south of Costa Brava, between Cabrera de Mar and Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, north-east of Barcelona. , it had a population of c. 122,932 inhabitants.
