Jason Weston
Jason Weston (born 11 January 1971 in Portsmouth) is an English former professional snooker player. He competed on the main tour between 1991 and 1997 and intermittently until 2003, at one point being ranked the world number 90. After successfully entering Q School in 2015, Weston regained his professional status for the 2015–16 season after a twelve-year absence. Career Weston, first turned professional at the start of the 1991–92 season, in a season which he reached the semi-final of the Benson & Hedges Satellite Championship, losing to future World Champion Ken Doherty, an event which the winner gain entry as a wildcard to the Masters. Weston qualified for the 1992 British Open in Derby, losing to Eddie Charlton in the last 32. However he then struggled to match these season and had an on-off career on the main tour, before ending to his career in 2003 after suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome. Q-School 2015/16 - Event 2
The 2015 Q School was a series of two snooker tournaments held at the start of the 2015–16 snooker season. An event for amateur players, it served as a qualification event for a place on the professional World Snooker Tour for the following two seasons. The events took place in May 2015 at the Meadowside Centre in Burton-upon-Trent, England with a total 8 players qualifying via the two tournaments. Format The 2015 Q School consisted of two events. The two events had 166 entries competing for 8 places on the main tour, four players qualifying from each of the two events. All matches were the best of seven frames. 2017 Snooker Shoot-Out
The 2017 Shoot Out (officially the 2017 Coral Snooker Shoot Out) was a professional ranking snooker tournament which took place at the Watford Colosseum in Watford from 23 to 26 February 2017. It was played under a variation of the standard rules of snooker. In 2017 it was extended from 64 to 128 players, and became a ranking tournament for the first time in its history. It was the 15th ranking event of the 2016/2017 season. Robin Hull was the defending champion, but he lost 18–25 to Fergal O'Brien in the second round. Anthony McGill won his second ranking title, beating Xiao Guodong 67–19 in the final. This was the first time that no century break was made in the competition. Bye (sport)
In sport, a bye is the preferential status of a player or team that is automatically advanced to the next round of a tournament, without having to play an opponent in an early round. In knockout (elimination) tournaments they can be granted either to reward the highest ranked participant(s) or assigned randomly, to make a working bracket if the number of participants is not a power of two (e.g. 16 or 32). In round-robin tournaments, usually one competitor gets a bye in each round when there are an odd number of competitors, as it is impossible for all competitors to play in the same round. However, over the whole tournament, each plays the same number of games as well as sitting out for the same number of rounds. World Professional Billiards And Snooker Association
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) is the governing body of professional snooker and English billiards based in Bristol, England. It owns and publishes the official rules of the two sports and engages in promotional activities.
