Japandorf
''Japandorf'' is a 2013 album by Klaus Dinger and several other musicians, released under the name "''Klaus Dinger + Japandorf''" by Grönland Records. It was recorded in the year before Dinger's death on Good Friday 2008 and is the only one of three albums made since 1998 to have been released. It was originally intended to be released as a La Düsseldorf album, but this was blocked at the last minute by Hans Lampe, the band's original drummer. Background and recording In July 1998 Dinger disbanded La! Neu? after a final concert in Düsseldorf. After the concert he was approached by a Japanese artist named Masaki Nakao, who had moved to Düsseldorf from Japan in 1989. Over the next ten years Nakao and Dinger became close friends, and in 1999 Nakao introduced Dinger to a group of Japanese musicians living in Düsseldorf. Klaus Dinger
Klaus Dinger (24 March 1946 – 21 March 2008) was a German musician and songwriter most famous for his contributions to the seminal krautrock band Neu!. He was also the guitarist and chief songwriter of new wave group La Düsseldorf and briefly the percussionist of Kraftwerk. 1946–1971: The No, The Smash, and Kraftwerk Klaus Dinger was born in Scherfede, Westphalia, Germany, to Heinz and Renate Dinger on 24 March, 1946. He was their first child. Before he was a year old, his parents moved from the town, which had been badly damaged by an Allied siege at the end of World War II, to Düsseldorf. In 1956 he attended Görres Gymnasium School for the first time. During his time there he was part of an a cappella choir, which he had to leave when his voice broke. La Düsseldorf was a German band, consisting of onetime Kraftwerk drummer and Neu! multi-instrumentalist Klaus Dinger and occasional Neu! collaborators Thomas Dinger and Hans Lampe. La Düsseldorf was formed after Neu! disbanded following the release of their ''Neu! '75'' record. ''Neu! 4'' is the fourth and final studio album by krautrock band Neu!, released in October 1995. It was revised and re-released as ''Neu '86'' in 2010. Recording ''Neu! 4'' was recorded and mixed between October 1985 and April 1986 at Grundfunk Studio and Dingerland-Lilienthal Studio in Düsseldorf, Germany, and Michael Rother Studio in Forst, Germany. This was the first time Rother and Klaus Dinger had entered a studio together since 1975. However, the sessions were not completed and the planned album was abandoned. Release During the 1990s, the first three Neu! albums were available on CD on Germanofon Records, a dubious label allegedly based in Luxembourg who specialized in unauthorized and illegal reissues of otherwise unavailable krautrock albums. Germanofon managed to get a number of their releases, including the three Neu! albums, into mainstream distribution. Live At Kunsthalle Düsseldorf
''Live at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf'' is a double-disc live album by German band La! Neu? released in 2001, after the band had split up. It consists of a recording of their final concert, held at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf on 19 July 1998. Immediately after the concert, the band disbanded amicably (in part due to pressure from Klaus Dinger's ex-bandmate Michael Rother, who resented Dinger's use of the word "Neu!" in La! Neu?'s name). Concert and release The concert was organised by Dinger's friends in the Düsseldorf academic community - for example Dr. Ralf Gawlista, who managed Dinger's website. It was to be the only concert La! Neu? would ever play in Germany (they toured Japan in 1996) as well as the band's final performance together (at least under the La! Neu? name). Herbert Arthur Wiglev Clamor Grönemeyer (born 12 April 1956) is a German singer, musician, producer, composer and actor, popular in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. ''Blue'' is a 1999 studio album released under the La! Neu? name on Captain Trip Records. In most senses it is a Klaus Dinger solo album, as Dinger composed, produced, recorded and (mostly) performed the entire album alone. It was originally intended for release as the fifth La Düsseldorf album in 1987, but Dinger's contract with Virgin Records was terminated before the album's release. The 1987 rejection letter from Udo Lange is printed upside-down on the back cover of the CD. Name The ambiguity of the album's name and artist on the cover has caused confusion amongst retailers as well as fans. Whilst "La! Neu?" is prominently displayed at the top-right corner of the artwork, the cover also features the legend "''La Düsseldorf 5''", referring to Dinger's band from the 1970s and '80s. Julian David Cope (born 21 October 1957) is an English musician and author. He was the singer and songwriter in Liverpool post-punk band the Teardrop Explodes and has followed a solo career since 1983 in addition to working on musical side projects such as Queen Elizabeth, Brain Donor and Black Sheep.
