The Japan women's national baseball team is part of the Baseball Federation of Japan. It represents the country of Japan in women's international competitions. The team is a member of the Baseball Federation of Asia. They won the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, and are currently ranked 1st in the world by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. The represents amateur baseball in Japan. They organize Japanese amateur baseball throughout Japan and overseas. The Federation was set up after the Japan Amateur Baseball Association (JABA) and the Japan Student Baseball Association (JSBA) joined on June 20, 1990. They are the governing body for amateur baseball in Japan. 2021 Women's Baseball World Cup
The 2021 Women's Baseball World Cup would have been the ninth edition of the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup, the biennial international women's baseball world championship tournament. The competition was planned to be held in Tijuana, Mexico in late 2021, with dates to be announced. The competition was originally to be held in Monterrey, Mexico from 11 to 20 September 2020, and was initially rescheduled to be held in Tijuana from 1 to 9 March 2021, but was postponed both times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was cancelled altogether in October 2021. Three national teams, hosts Mexico, France and the Philippines were supposed to make their debut in the tournament. The WBSC Asia, formerly known as, Baseball Federation of Asia (BFA) is the governing body of the sport of baseball and softball in Asia. The federation is governed by the World Baseball Softball Confederation. History The birth of Baseball Federation of Asia goes back to 1954 when the 2nd Asian Games was held in Manila, Philippines. The four countries of Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines organized a committee aiming at establishing Baseball Federation of Asia, and 7 May of the same year witnessed the commencement of BFA. American expatriate Charles Chick Parsons of the Philippines was elected as the first president of Baseball Federation of Asia.
