Japan Expo USA was a three-day anime convention held in August at the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California, United States. The convention is organized by SEFA Entertainment, based in San Francisco, San Francisco, California. It is the American subsidiary of the JTS Group, the organizing group of Japan Expo in Paris, Paris, France. Programming The convention typically offers an artists' alley, autograph sessions, art show, concerts, dealers' room, Japanese cultural demonstrations, masquerades, vendors, video games, and video screenings. History Japan Expo has previously expanded to other cities in France as Japan Expo Centre and Japan Expo Sud, and in Belgium as Japan Expo Belgium. The convention prior to the 2013 event had to change its re-entry policy due to fan feedback. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto
is a Japanese character designer, manga artist, and one of the founding members of the Gainax anime studio. Personal life Before Gainax was founded under the official name (it was originally called Daicon Film), Yoshiyuki served as animator on the second animated project, the Daicon IV opening animation. His first assignment as a character designer in Gainax was for '' Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise'', released in 1987. Sadamoto has since had many works credited to him, one of the most notable being ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' where he worked as a designer for the characters. Akira Yamaoka
is a Japanese composer and music producer. He is best known for composing music for several video games in the ''Silent Hill'' series by Konami, among other games. Yamaoka also worked as a producer on the series, as well as composing for the ''Silent Hill'' film and its sequel. Since 2010, he has been the sound director at Grasshopper Manufacture. is a Japanese novelist, visual novel writer and anime screenwriter. Izumi Matsumoto
, known by his pen name , was a Japanese manga artist best known for ''Kimagure Orange Road''. His career started in 1982, publishing his comic ''Milk Report'' in the manga magazine ''Weekly Shōnen Jump''. But real success came in 1984, publishing ''Kimagure Orange Road'' in the same magazine. In 2005, he revealed that he was afflicted with a cerebrospinal fluid disease (possibly stemming from a car accident when he was three years old) that had forced him to take six years off work, and he hoped to bring attention to this disorder through a new manga. On 3 November 2019, Matsumoto revealed that he had been diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Matsumoto died at 61 on October 6, 2020. Shinji Aramaki
is a Japanese anime director and mechanical designer from Fukuoka Prefecture. He graduated from Fukuoka Prefectural Fukuoka High School and Okayama University. He was a member of Artmic and is currently the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at SOLA DIGITAL ARTS. He is a leading figure in 3DCG animation in Japan.
