"January February" is a song by Scottish singer Barbara Dickson released on 25 January 1980 by Epic Records. It peaked at #11 on the UK Singles Chart the week ending 12 April 1980, spending 10 weeks on the chart. It also made the Top 20 in the German and South African charts and 64 in Australia. The song signalled a new direction in her career, moving into the mainstream pop genre. It was written and produced by Alan Tarney who had recently resurrected Cliff Richard's career with his 1979 no.1 hit " We Don't Talk Anymore". Guitar on the song was played by Issac Guillory who also appeared on the music video and helped promote the song on TV. Barbara Ruth Dickson (born 27 September 1947) is a Scottish singer and actress whose hits include 'I Know Him So Well', 'Answer Me' and 'January February'. Dickson has placed fifteen albums on the UK Albums Chart from 1977 to date, and had a number of hit singles, including four which reached the top 20 on the UK Singles Chart. ''The Barbara Dickson Album'' is a 1980 album released by Scottish singer Barbara Dickson. The album was released following her return to the top 20 with the single "January February". Alan Tarney (born 19 November 1945) is an English record producer and musician. He was born in Northside, Workington, Cumberland, but spent his teenage years in Adelaide, Australia, where he met his songwriting and musical partner Trevor Spencer. He is best known for his association with Cliff Richard and producing "Take On Me" by a-ha. Career Musician Tarney was part of the influx of British migrants who settled in Adelaide during the height of the 1960s pop music boom. ''British Hit Singles & Albums'' (originally known as ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles'' and ''The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums'') was a music reference book originally published in the United Kingdom by the publishing arm of the Guinness breweries, Guinness Superlatives. Later editions were published by HiT Entertainment (who had bought the Guinness World Records brand). It listed all the singles and albums featured in the Top 75 pop charts in the UK. Isaac Guillory (February 27, 1947 – December 31, 2000) was an American folk guitarist. Career Guillory first began performing in 1965, while still attending St. Johns River State College where he became a member of The Illusions, eventually becoming lead guitarist. While studying music at Roosevelt University in Chicago during 1965 to 1969, he recorded two albums with The Cryan' Shames, having joined them in 1967 as bass player. Towards the end of 1965, Guillory moved to Chicago where he studied guitar at the Chicago School of Music. He then attended Wright Junior College for three years where he played with The Revelles. The group played with Chicago DJ, Art Roberts, of WLS. He then played with The Cryan' Shames.
