''The Barbara Dickson Album'' is a 1980 album released by Scottish singer Barbara Dickson. The album was released following her return to the top 20 with the single "January February". Produced by Alan Tarney, the album was a success, reaching No.7 in the UK Charts and remaining in the top 75 for three months. It was certified gold by the BPI for sales of over 100,000 in the UK. Further singles taken from the album were "In the Night" and "It's Really You". The album was released on Compact disc in 1992. Barbara Ruth Dickson (born 27 September 1947) is a Scottish singer and actress whose hits include 'I Know Him So Well', 'Answer Me' and 'January February'. Dickson has placed fifteen albums on the UK Albums Chart from 1977 to date, and had a number of hit singles, including four which reached the top 20 on the UK Singles Chart. ''The Scotsman'' newspaper has described her as Scotland's best-selling female singer in terms of the numbers of hit chart singles and albums she has achieved in the UK since 1976. She is also a twice Olivier Award-winning actress, with roles including Viv Nicholson in the musical ''Spend Spend Spend'', and was the original Mrs. Johnstone in Willy Russell's long-running musical '' Blood Brothers''. Melvyn Desmond Collins (born 5 September 1947, Isle of Man) is a British saxophonist, flautist and session musician. Collins has played in several progressive rock groups, having been a member of King Crimson on two occasions (the first from 1970 to 1972 and the second from 2013 to the present day) and having played with Camel, the Alan Parsons Project, Roger Waters and Chris Squire. Trevor Spencer (born 1947 in Adelaide, Australia) is an Australian songwriter, record producer and drummer. He studied drums and percussion from the age of 10. By the age of 14, he was playing professionally in bands in Adelaide and Melbourne, where he met his songwriting and musical partner Alan Tarney. Career In 1967 Trevor Spencer (born: 21 May 1947) was a founding member of psychedelic pop-progressive rock group James Taylor Move. In 1969 he moved to Ham in England and after forming his first band, Quartet, he became a studio drummer for acts such as Cliff Richard, Marvin and Farrar and Olivia Newton-John. "January February" is a song by Scottish singer Barbara Dickson released on 25 January 1980 by Epic Records. It peaked at #11 on the UK Singles Chart the week ending 12 April 1980, spending 10 weeks on the chart. It also made the Top 20 in the German and South African charts and 64 in Australia. The song signalled a new direction in her career, moving into the mainstream pop genre. It was written and produced by Alan Tarney who had recently resurrected Cliff Richard's career with his 1979 no.1 hit " We Don't Talk Anymore". Guitar on the song was played by Issac Guillory who also appeared on the music video and helped promote the song on TV.
