Jan Des Bouvrie
Jan des Bouvrie (3 August 1942 – 4 October 2020) was a Dutch architect, interior and product designer, best known for his 1969 "kubusbank sofa", now considered a design classic. Des Bouvrie was active as a distinguished lecturer at various design academies. The design college ''Jan des Bouvrie Academy'', in Deventer is named in his honor. Life and work Des Bouvrie was born 3 August 1942 in Naarden. After he finished high school, he went to the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam at the age of sixteen. He later started his own interior design shop in Naarden, and hosted the TV show TV Woonmagazine. He designed the rooms in the Floris Suite Hotel in "Dutch colonial style with Caribbean temperament". His own vision on design was developed at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where he started his professional career. Naarden
Naarden () is a List of cities in the Netherlands by province, city and former List of municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the Gooi region in the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of North Holland, Netherlands. It has been part of the new municipality of Gooise Meren since 2016. History Naarden was granted its City rights in the Netherlands, city rights in 1300 (the only town in the Gooi with these rights) and later developed into a fortified garrison town with a textile industry. The Red Apple
The Red Apple is a 40-storey, residential skyscraper on Wijnhaven Island in Rotterdam, Netherlands, designed by KCAP Architects & Planners and Jan des Bouvrie. The building was topped out in 2008, completed in 2009, and features 121 units, and a 338-space multi-storey car park. It is the eighth-tallest building in Rotterdam. The ''Kopblok'' is a building that has an additional 79 apartment units and offices. The ground floor is designed for shops and restaurants. The entire complex has an open fiber network. Longford Castle
Longford Castle stands on the banks of the River Avon south of Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. It is the seat of the Earl of Radnor, and an example of the Elizabethan prodigy house. History In 1573 Thomas Gorges acquired the manor (at the time written "Langford"), which was originally owned by the Servington (or Cervington) family.Jacob Radnor, ''A Huguenot Family 1536–1889'' Prior to this the existing mansion house had been damaged by fire. Earl of Radnor, in the County of Wiltshire, is a title which has been created twice. It was first created in the Peerage of England in 1679 for John Robartes, 2nd Baron Robartes, a notable political figure of the reign of Charles II. The earldom was created for a second time in the Peerage of Great Britain in 1765 when William Bouverie, 2nd Viscount Folkestone, was made Earl of Radnor. The Bouverie family descends from William des Bouverie, a prominent London merchant. He was created a baronet of St Catherine Cree Church, London, in the Baronetage of Great Britain in 1714. Sir William des Bouverie, 1st Baronet (26 September 1656 – 19 May 1717), was a merchant in London and a baronet in the Baronetage of Great Britain. He was the eldest of the seven sons of London Levant Company, Turkey merchant Sir Edward des Bouverie (died 2 April 1694, aged 72) of Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. His mother, Anne, was the daughter and co-heir of London merchant Jacob de la Forterie.
