Jan Daszewski
Jan Kazimierz Daszewski (5 April 1916 – 4 April 1942) was a fighter pilot in the Polish Air Force in World War II. Jan Daszewski was born on 5 April 1916 in Kiev. He trained at the "School of Eaglets" in Dęblin. In 1938 he was posted to 112 Fighter Escadrille and participated in the September 1939 campaign in Poland, claiming a Ju 87 destroyed. Via Romania he escaped to France and in May 1940 he was posted to ECD I/55 flying the Bloch MB 152, where he claimed a He 111 destroyed. On 2 August 1940 he was posted to No. 303 Squadron RAF. His achievements are described in Arkady Fiedler's book ''Dywizjon 303'' (Squadron 303). With Jan Zumbach, Mirosław Ferić and Witold Łokuciewski, Daszewski was one of the famous "four musketeers" of Polish pilots fighting in the Battle of Britain. Arkady Fiedler
Arkady Fiedler (28 November 1894 in Poznań – 7 March 1985 in Puszczykowo) was a Polish writer, journalist and adventurer. Life He studied philosophy and natural science at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and later in Poznań and the University of Leipzig. As an officer of the reserve of the Polish Army, he took part in the Greater Poland Uprising in 1918, was one of the organizers of the Polish Military Organisation from 1918 to 1920. He travelled to Mexico, Indochina, Brazil, Madagascar, West Africa, Canada and United States, amongst other countries. He wrote 32 books that have been translated into 23 languages and sold over 10 million copies in total. His most famous and popular book, written in 1942, was '' Squadron 303'' about the legendary Kościuszko Squadron fighting during the Battle of Britain; it sold over 1.5 million copies. Witold Łokuciewski (2 February 1917 – 17 April 1990) was a Polish fighter ace of the Polish Air Force in World War II who was given the nickname Tolo. Early life and time in the Polish Air Force He was born to Antoni Łokuciewski in Novocherkassk in the Russian Empire. His family moved to Vilnius in 1918. He then graduated from high school Jan Śniadecki in Oszmiana and gained his high school diploma in 1935. He then began studying at the Polish Air Force University in Dęblin. After his graduation in 1938 he was assigned to the 112 Fighter Squadron of the 1st Air Regiment located in Warsaw, Poland. As a part of the unit he fought in the defense of Warsaw in 1939 using a PZL P.11 plane. After the invasion of Poland by the USSR he along with the 112 Fighter Squadron escaped into Romania.
