Jan Christopher Næss
Jan Christopher Cockburn Næss (born 18 December 1964) is a Norwegian writer, known for his novels and children's literature. He was born in Great Britain. His novels include ''Meg selv og mine kjære'' (1999), ''Jotapata'' (2001), ''Fiat'' (2004) and ''Det begynner med sex og ender med døden'' (2007). His children's books include ''Alexandria og de tre gåtene'' (2001), ''Stein og fossilene'' (2002), ''Selma og ballettmonsteret'' (2003), ''Puddingmannen'' (2004) and ''Puddingmannen og de tre søstrene som alle het noe på B'' (2006). A novel is a relatively long work of narrative fiction, typically written in prose and published as a book. The present English word for a long work of prose fiction derives from the for "new", "news", or "short story of something new", itself from the la, novella, a singular noun use of the neuter plural of ''novellus'', diminutive of ''novus'', meaning "new". Children's Literature
Children's literature or juvenile literature includes stories, books, magazines, and poems that are created for children. Modern children's literature is classified in two different ways: genre or the intended age of the reader. Children's literature can be traced to traditional stories like fairy tales, that have only been identified as children's literature in the eighteenth century, and songs, part of a wider oral tradition, that adults shared with children before publishing existed. The development of early children's literature, before printing was invented, is difficult to trace. Even after printing became widespread, many classic "children's" tales were originally created for adults and later adapted for a younger audience. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' ( no, Store Norske Leksikon, abbreviated ''SNL''), is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with more than two million unique visitors per month. The 1st century was the century spanning AD 1 ( I) through AD 100 ( C) according to the Julian calendar.
