Jamstack
Jamstack, previously stylized as JAMStack, is a web development Software architecture, architecture pattern and solution stack. The initialism "JAM" stands for JavaScript, API and Markup language, Markup (generated by a static site generator) and was coined by Mathias Biilmann in 2015. The idea of combining using JavaScript, APIs, and markup together has existed since the beginnings of HTML5. In Jamstack websites, the application logic typically resides on the client side (for example, an embedded e-commerce checkout service that interacts with pre-rendered static content), without being tightly coupled to a Backend (computing), backend server. Jamstack sites are usually served with a Git-based or Headless content management system, headless CMS. Static Site Generator
Static site generators (SSGs) are engines that use text input files (such as Markdown, reStructuredText, and AsciiDoc) to generate static web pages. Static sites generated by static site generators do not require a backend after site generation, making them first-class citizens on content delivery networks (CDNs). Solution Stack
In computing, a solution stack or software stack is a set of software subsystems or components needed to create a complete Computing platform, platform such that no additional software is needed to support applications. Applications are said to "run on" or "run on top of" the resulting platform. Headless Content Management System
A headless Content Management System, or headless CMS, is a back end-only web content management system that acts primarily as a content repository. A headless CMS makes content accessible via an API for display on any device, without a built-in front end or presentation layer. The term 'headless' comes from the concept of chopping the 'head' (the front end) off the 'body' (the back end).
