Jamie Hooyman
Jamie Hooyman (born 1963) is an American academic and the first woman provost, or chief academic officer, of Northwest Missouri State University. Life She earned her Doctor of Education in Applied Educational Studies with a focus in exercise science from Oklahoma State University in 2003 and her Master of Science in Education with a concentration in exercise physiology and fitness from Northern Illinois University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in physical education from Missouri State University and an Associate of Arts degree. In July 2016, she joined Northwest as vice provost and was appointed provost November 2017. Before being selected by Northwest, Hooyman was an administrator at North Central Missouri College, where she served as vice president of Institutional Effectiveness, Dean of Instruction, and associate dean. An academy ( Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. A facilitator is a person who helps a group of people to work together better, understand their common objectives, and plan how to achieve these objectives, during meetings or discussions.
