James Watts (British Politician)
James Watts (22 August 1903 – 7 July 1961) was a Conservative politician in the United Kingdom. He was elected at the 1959 general election as Member of Parliament for Manchester Moss Side, but died in office two years later, aged 57. His aunt was Dame Agatha Christie, who dedicated several books to him, including ''The Secret of Chimneys'' (1925). Early life James "Jack" Watts was the only child of James "Jim" Watts and Margaret Watts. He was born at his parents' home, Manor Lodge, close to his paternal grandparents' estate of Abney Hall, Cheadle. He was christened in Torquay that autumn, during the first of many visits to his maternal grandmother, Clarissa Miller. Watts family moved to Cheadle Hall in 1915, and to Abney Hall in 1926. Jack was subsequently educated at Shrewsbury School, then entered New College, Oxford University. He earned a bachelor's degree, and was awarded his MA in November 1928. James Watts (Mayor Of Manchester)
Sir James Watts (6 March 1804 – 7 April 1878) was Mayor of Manchester (1855–1857), High Sheriff of Lancashire and owner of Abney Hall. He was the owner of ''S & J Watts Limited'', who built the Watts Warehouse on Portland Street. Watts was born March 1804, and baptised on 15 April 1804 at St Thomas Ardwick. He started his life as a weaver in Didsbury. He became partners with his brothers Samuel and John and became an important figure among British industrialists, socialising with politicians and churchmen at his home, Abney Hall, in Cheadle. James Watts (rugby Union)
James Watts (March 1878 – 2 February 1933) was a Welsh international rugby union player who played club rugby for Llanelli. He won eleven caps for Wales and was part of the first Grand Slam winning side in 1908. Rugby career Watts, a steelworker by profession, played the majority of his rugby career for first-class Welsh team Llanelli and in the 1903–04 season was given the captaincy of the first team. Despite this accolade, Watts was not selected for the Wales national team until the 1907 Home Nations Championship. His first international was against England, played at home at St. Helen's, and the match ended in a Welsh win. Watts was reselected for the remaining two games of the Championship, an away loss to Scotland, and a crushing home win over Ireland. Watts had joined the Wales team during their first 'Golden Age', and the loss to Scotland would be the only international defeat of his 11-match career. James Charles Watts (born January 24, 1980), also known by the moniker KiloWatts, is an American electronic musician. He has toured across Australia, Canada, Europe, and the United States since 2002. His 2007 release ''Ground State'' was said to lead the devoted listener to a state of total hypnosis by Side-Line Magazine. In 2006, Igloo Magazine called his album ''Routes'' "a lifetime of travel compressed into an hour of aural head-tripping." His project with Tanner Ross, entitled Voodeux, was reviewed by XLR8R Magazine and could only be described as "...if maverick producers Ricardo Villalobos and Bruno Pronsato plundered Lustmord's harddrive full of tar-black ambience..." James Laurence Watts
James Laurence Watts (1849–1925) was a sculptor in Queensland, Australia. He was one of the pioneer sculptors in Australia and his works appear in many Queensland public buildings and places. Early life James Laurence Watts was born in the town of Bedminster, Somerset, England to John and Betsey (née Dowdney) Watts. Bedminster being today a district of Bristol. James is the third eldest in a family of 4 sons. The family moved to Weston-super-Mare on the Somerset coast about 1855. Here John found work as a fisherman. It is not known what inspired James to be a sculptor but his elder brother is a mason and this may have been the inspiration. It is believed that James received his early art training at the South Kensington School of Arts, London during the period of 1870s. He then married Mary Louisa Lloyd on 15 January 1880 at Pembroke, St Mary, Pembrokeshire, Wales. James Washington Watts (born 24 August 1960) is an American professor of religion at Syracuse University. His research focuses on the rhetoric of Leviticus. His publications also compare the Bible with other religious scriptures, especially in their ritual performances, social functions, and material symbolism. Biography James W. Watts is a U.S. citizen born in Switzerland where his father, John D. W. Watts, was teaching at the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Rüschlikon. He left there with his family in 1970 for Louisville, Kentucky. They spent three years in India where he attended Woodstock School, before finishing High School in South Pasadena, California. Watts earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Pomona College (1982) where he studied with Frederick Sontag, briefly with Masao Abe and, during a term at Oxford University, with Stephanie Dalley.
