James Spann
James Max Spann Jr. (born June 6, 1956) is a television meteorologist and podcast host based in Birmingham, Alabama. He currently works for WBMA-LD (''ABC 33/40''), Birmingham's ABC affiliate. Spann has worked in the field since 1978, and is often praised for his easy-to-understand and likely life-saving forecasting during the destructive 2011 Super Outbreak. He is also the host of the weekly podcast WeatherBrains which he started in 2006. He is also a climate skeptic, repeatedly claiming climate change is part of natural cycles, although he has also stated that he is not an expert in that area of the field. Greenville, Alabama
Greenville is a city and the county seat of Butler County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 7,374. Greenville is known as the Camellia City, wherein originated the movement to change the official Alabama state flower from the goldenrod to the camellia with legislative sponsors LaMont Glass and H.B. Taylor. History Greenville was first settled in 1819. Its original name was Buttsville, but after becoming the county seat in 1822, its name was changed to Greenville, in remembrance of the former locale in South Carolina of many of the original settlers. WHHY-FM (101.9 MHz, "Y102") is a radio station licensed to serve Montgomery, Alabama, United States. The station is owned by Cumulus Media. Y102 broadcasts a Top 40 (CHR) music format. The WHHY-FM studios are located on the 3rd floor of The Colonial Financial Center in downtown Montgomery. WTBC (1230 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a classic country format. Licensed to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, United States, the station serves the greater Tuscaloosa area. The station is owned by Townsquare Media and features programming from Local Radio Networks. It was also the first media position that James Spann ever had in the media. In May 2016, it was announced that Townsquare Media would be buying the WTBC and sister station WNPT-FM (now WTID) for $550,000.
