James Moran (diplomat)
James Moran is a diplomat and economist, specialising in middle-eastern and Asian affairs. He was the European Union's Ambassador to Egypt from 2012 to 2016. Biography Moran attended Keele University (where he was president of the students' union), Harvard University and the University of London. He subsequently worked in the private sector and the UK government before joining the European Union's staff in 1983. His early assignments in the EU included working in its delegations to Jamaica and Ethiopia. From 1999 to 2002, he led EU delegations in Jordan and Yemen. Returning to Brussels in 2002, he headed the Commission's China division before being appointed Asia Director in 2006. Moving to the new EU external action service, Moran continued as Asia Director from 2006 to 2011 where he negotiated a number of EU partnership agreements. James Byron Moran (June 20, 1930 – April 21, 2009) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Education and career Moran was born in Evanston, Illinois, on June 20, 1930. Moran received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1952. He was a sergeant in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. After the war, he went law school, receiving a Bachelor of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1957. He was a law clerk for Judge J. Edward Lumbard of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1957 to 1958. James Timothy Moran (born December 3, 1978) is an American-Irish retired professional basketball player and current assistant coach for the NBA's Detroit Pistons. Playing career Moran was born in Syosset, New York and attended St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay from 1993 to 1997. He played on a state championship team during his prep years. After graduating, Moran played four years of college basketball at William & Mary (1997–2001) where he scored 1,324 points and was a two-time All- Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Team member in his junior and senior seasons. Jim Moran (born April 17, 1972) is an American freestyle skier. He competed in the men's moguls event at the 1998 Winter Olympics. In 1999, he crashed while competing in a race, which lead to the end of his career. Biography Moran was born in Pompton Plains, New Jersey in 1972. He was part of the American freestyle ski team for most of the 1990s. James Moran was a shipbuilder from St. Martins in the Colony, later Canadian Province, of New Brunswick who pioneered shipbuilding in the Bay of Fundy. Moran was one of the two leading families in the shipbuilding era of St. Martins from 1803 to 1919. During this period a number of different families built ships of all sizes along the beaches of St. Martins, building about 517 ships. He was the son of Matthias (Matthew) Moran.
