James Jordan (cricketer)
James Jordan (21 June 1793 – 10 September 1866) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1822 to 1824. Jordan was born at Chatham in Kent in 1793. Jim Jordan (Canadian Politician)
Jim Jordan (2 September 1928 – 18 September 2012) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1997. His career had been in education as a teacher and administrator. Biography Jordan was born the youngest of seven children to George and Hannah Jordan (née Taylor) in Marlbank, Ontario. His father, George, was a longtime municipal politician in Hungerford Township and ran unsuccessfully in the riding of East Hastings for the Liberals in the 1948 provincial election. He was educated in Marlbank, Tweed and at Regiopolis in Kingston, and attended teacher's college in 1949 following completion of Grade 13. He married Mary Barrett in 1953. He began his teaching career at CFB Petawawa, eventually rising to the position of principal after eight years. James Spurgeon Jordan ( ; June 3, 1871 – January 28, 1962) was an American conjure doctor and businessman. Born to former slaves in eastern North Carolina, he learned folk healing practices from his family. His faith healing practice, using methods such as herbal medicine and crystal ball reading, became well known along the East Coast. This and his other business endeavors developed a community around him known as "Jordanville". Early life Jordan was born in 1871 in Hertford County, North Carolina, the first son and fourth of eleven children of parents who were born into slavery. His father, Isaac, was a sharecropper and lay preacher after emancipation. James J. Jordan Jr. (August 3, 1930 – February 4, 2004) was an American ad-man and sloganeer. He is best known for his work at the BBDO advertising agency, coining such slogans as "Us Tareyton smokers would rather fight than switch!", " Wisk beats ring around the collar", and "Shaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one." As Creative Director at BBDO, he oversaw major campaigns for Pepsi, Burger King ("Have it Your Way"), Pillsbury and Campbell Soup. In 1976, he left BBDO to start his own agency, James Jordan, Inc. A member of the Republican Party, he is a two-time NCAA national champion wrestler and a former college wrestling coach. James William Jordan (January 13, 1908 – December 4, 1957) was an American baseball player whose career in the major leagues lasted from April 20, 1933, to September 27, 1936.
