James Jardine Bell-Irving
James Jardine Bell-Irving (24 December 1859 – 8 June 1936) was a Scottish businessman in Hong Kong and China and member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Son of John Bell-Irving and Mary Jardine, niece of Dr. William Jardine and sister of Sir Robert Jardine, James Jardine was born at St Mungo, Kirkbank, Dumfries And Galloway, Scotland on 24 December 1859 in the family of the Jardine Matheson & Co., one of the largest trading firms in the Far East. He arrived in China in 1881 and became a partner at the company in 1887. He became a director of company for from 1887 to 1902 and also numerous public companies, including the chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. He was appointed as unofficial member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 1892, 1893, 1896 and 1901 and became the first of the two unofficial members in the Executive Council of Hong Kong in 1896 and again in 1901, until he retired from public and business serv ... Roxburghshire
Roxburghshire or the County of Roxburgh ( gd, Siorrachd Rosbroig) is a historic county and registration county in the Southern Uplands of Scotland. It borders Dumfriesshire to the west, Selkirkshire and Midlothian to the north-west, and Berwickshire to the north. To the south-west it borders Cumberland and to the south-east Northumberland, both in England. It was named after the Royal Burgh of Roxburgh, a town which declined markedly in the 15th century and is no longer in existence. Latterly, the county town of Roxburghshire was Jedburgh. The county has much the same area as Teviotdale, the basin drained by the River Teviot and tributaries, together with the adjacent stretch of the Tweed into which it flows. Roderick Mackenzie Gray
Roderick Mackenzie Gray was a British businessman and member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. He was the head of the Reiss & Co. and the Chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank. He was made Justice of the Peace in 1890. From 1897 to 1900, he was Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce from 1897 to 1900. On 21 June 1900 he was appointed unofficial member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong vice E. R. Belilios resigned. He married Eleanor Maud H. Potts in Hong Kong on 8 May 1893.
