James Henry Legge Dutton, 3rd Baron Sherborne (30 May 1804 – 8 March 1883), was a British peer. John Dutton, 2nd Baron Sherborne
John Baron Dutton, 2nd Baron Sherborne (24 January 1779 – 18 October 1862), was a British peer. Background Sherborne was the son of James Dutton, 1st Baron Sherborne, of Sherborne, Gloucestershire, by his wife Elizabeth Coke (1753–1824), daughter of Wenman Coke and Elizabeth Chamberlayne. According to the '' Legacies of British Slave-Ownership'' at the University College London, Dutton was awarded a payment as a slave trader in the aftermath of the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 with the Slave Compensation Act 1837. The British Government took out a £15 million loan (worth £ in ) with interest from Nathan Mayer Rothschild and Moses Montefiore which was subsequently paid off by the British taxpayers (ending in 2015). Sherborne is a village and Civil parishes in England, civil parish almost east of Northleach in Gloucestershire. Sherborne is a linear village, extending more than a mile along the valley of Sherborne Brook, a tributary of the River Windrush. The place-name 'Sherborne' is first attested in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it is spelt 'Scireburne', and means 'bright stream'. This is a reference to Sherborne Brook. Thomas Howard, 16th Earl of Suffolk, 9th Earl of Berkshire FSA (18 August 1776 – 4 December 1851) was a British peer and politician. Background Suffolk was the second but eldest surviving son of General John Howard, 15th Earl of Suffolk, and Julia, daughter of John Gaskarth of Hutton Hall, Penrith, Cumberland. He gained the courtesy title Viscount Andover on the death of his elder brother, Charles Nevinson, who was killed by the accidental discharge of his fowling piece in 1800. Political career Suffolk was Member of Parliament for Arundel from 1802 to 1806. He was appointed Major-Commandant of the Malmesbury Volunteers by commission dated 15 Dec. 1803. In 1820 he succeeded his father in the two united earldoms of Suffolk and Berkshire and entered the House of Lords. Edward Lenox Dutton, 4th Baron Sherborne (23 April 1831 – 18 July 1919), was a British peer and diplomat. Background Sherborne was the son of James Dutton, 3rd Baron Sherborne, of Sherborne, Gloucestershire, by his wife, Lady Elizabeth Howard (1803–1845), daughter of Thomas Howard, 16th Earl of Suffolk, and Hon. Edwin Corbett
Edwin Corbett (4 December 1819 – 22 February 1888) was a British diplomat who was envoy to several countries. Career Edwin Corbett graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1843, joined the Diplomatic Service in 1847 and was attaché at Paris, Washington, D.C., Madrid and Copenhagen. He was Secretary of Legation at Florence in 1858, at Stockholm in 1860, at Frankfurt in 1862, and at Munich in 1865. In 1866 he was promoted to be ''chargé d'affaires'' and Consul-General to the Central American Republics (Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Honduras and Salvador), based in Guatemala City, and in 1873 he was promoted to Minister Resident and Consul-General for the same countries. He was Minister Resident to Switzerland 1874–78 and Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Greece 1878–81, to Brazil 1881–84 and to Sweden and Norway 1884–1888.
