James Harris (grammarian)
James Harris, FRS (24 July 1709 – 22 December 1780) was an English politician and grammarian. He was the author of ''Hermes, a philosophical inquiry concerning universal grammar'' (1751). Life James Harris was born at Salisbury, Wiltshire, the son of James Harris (1674–1731) by his second marriage to Elizabeth (c. 1682–1744), daughter of Anthony Ashley Cooper, 2nd Earl of Shaftesbury. He was educated at the Salisbury Cathedral School, and Wadham College, Oxford. On leaving university he was entered at Lincoln's Inn as a student of law, though he was not intended for the Bar. The death of his father in 1733 brought him an independent fortune and Malmesbury House in Salisbury's Cathedral Close. Harris became a county magistrate. He was Member of Parliament for Christchurch from 1761 until his death, and Comptroller to the Queen from 1774 to 1780. Career Everton Jay Harris started his career as a youth player with Everton, he became a senior player in 2006 but left Goodison Park. James Christopher Harris (born 28 June 1979) is a Welsh professional footballer. Harris began his football career at local football side Mumbles Rangers before joining Swansea City in 1996. He impressed in a trial game against Swindon Town and manager Jan Molby offered him a two-year contract; he later went out on loan to Merthyr Tydfil to gain some first-team experience. When his contract at Swansea expired, he had short spells at Rhayader Town and Haverfordwest County. He moved to Bohemians (Bohs) in 1999 and scored on his debut away to Waterford United in a 2–0 victory. He spent one season at Bohs, making 24 league appearances and scoring four league goals before moving to St Patrick's Athletic. James Edward Harris (1 October 1838 – 30 November 1925) was an English soldier and a cricketer who played in four important matches for Cambridge University in 1859. He was born and also died at Sharnford, Leicestershire. Harris's top-class cricket career was largely confined to 1859, when he appeared as a batsman and bowler of unknown style in several non-first-class matches as well as in Cambridge's four first-class fixtures, which included the University match. No great indication of his merits in either batting or bowling can be gained, as his bowling figures are incomplete and he never took more than two wickets in an innings, and his position in the batting order varied between the tail-end and occasional outings as an opening batsman. James Harris (born 26 August 1987) is a Welsh rugby union player. He was educated at Eltham College and the University of Oxford, where he played on the winning university team in the 2012 and 2013 Varsity Matches. In the 2013 match he was substituted after suffering a dislocated hip in the first half, which later required surgery. Harris plays in the position of flanker. He was selected for the Wales national rugby sevens team squad in 2007 and has also represented Wales Under-20s. James Arthur Harris (May 28, 1950August 9, 2020), better known by his ring name Kamala, was an American professional wrestler. Nicknamed "The Ugandan Giant", Kamala portrayed a fearsome and simpleminded Ugandan. He wrestled barefoot, clad only in a loincloth, his face painted with war paint and two stars and a moon painted on his torso.
