James C. Lord House
The James C. Lord House is a historic house in Lewiston, Maine. Built in 1885 for a prominent local businessman, it is a high quality blend of late 19th-century architectural styles. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Description and history The Lord House stands north of downtown Lewiston, on a slight rise at the southeast corner of Main Street (United States Route 202 and Maine State Route 100). It is a -story masonry structure, built out of red brick with granite trim. The house is roughly T-shaped, with a polychrome slate roof that is gabled in the side ends and hipped at the rear. The roof is pierced on several elevations by gabled dormers, and a three-story tower projects from the front, capped by a pyramidal roof. Main Street–Frye Street Historic District
The Main Street–Frye Street Historic District is a historic district comprising houses on Frye Street and parts of College Street and Main Street in Lewiston, Maine. This area was part of the most fashionable residential district of the city in the second half of the 19th century, and was home to many of the city's elite. Its architectural styles are diverse, with a significant number of homes designed by local architect George M. Coombs. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. U.S. Route 202 (US 202) is a spur route of US 2. It follows a northeasterly and southwesterly direction stretching from Delaware to Maine, also traveling through the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. State Route 100 (SR 100) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maine, running from Portland to Bangor. The south end of SR 100 is at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Cumberland Avenue in downtown Portland. Its north end is at the intersection of Hammond Street, Main Street, State Street and Central Street in downtown Bangor; SR 100 runs along Hammond Street with U.S. Route 2 (US 2) which continues across Main Street/Central Street onto State Street.
