James Angus (artist)
James Angus (born 1970) is an Australian artist known for 'his engaging and rigorously crafted sculptures'. Biography James Angus was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1970. Angus holds a degree in Fine Arts from Curtin University of Technology and a Master of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from Yale University School of Art. He has also lectured at UTS. Selected grants and awards Angus has been honoured with a number of prestigious awards across his career. Heide Museum Of Modern Art
The Heide Museum of Modern Art, also known as Heide, is an art museum in Bulleen, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1981, the museum houses modern and contemporary art across three distinct exhibition buildings and is set within sixteen acres of heritage-listed gardens and a sculpture park. The museum occupies the site of a former dairy farm owned by prominent arts benefactors John and Sunday Reed. After purchasing the farm in 1934, they named it Heide in reference to the Heidelberg School, an impressionist art movement that developed in nearby Heidelberg in the 1880s. Heide became the gathering place for a collective of young modernist painters known as the Heide Circle, which included Sidney Nolan, John Perceval, Albert Tucker and Joy Hester, who often stayed in the Reeds' 19th-century farmhouse, now known as Heide I. Elizabeth Ann Macgregor is a curator and art historian who was director of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) in Sydney, Australia from 1999 until October 2021. Early life and education Born in Dundee, Scotland, to a Church of Scotland priest who later became a bishop of the Scottish Episcopal Church and his wife, Macgregor's family moved to Stromness in the Orkney Islands for most of her childhood, which she shared with many foster children her parents took in; they adopted her younger sister. As part of her education there she studied five languages and music. She played in the Youth String Orchestra of Scotland and planned on a career in music until a maths teacher told her that would be "a shocking waste of a good brain."
