Jam!
Jam! was a Canadian website which covers entertainment news. It was part of the Canoe.com online portal, formerly owned and operated by Quebecor through its Sun Media division, and now owned by Postmedia Network. Jam! was the only media outlet that published a comprehensive collection of the official Canadian record charts as compiled by Nielsen SoundScan and Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems. CKXT-TV, Sun Media's television station in Toronto, aired a nightly entertainment magazine series, ''Inside Jam!''. However, due to low ratings the program's airtime was reduced substantially. Effective March 24, 2006, the show went from a daily program to a weekend only show, before later being removed from the schedule altogether. Christopher Van Vliet (born May 19, 1983) is a Canadian television/radio personality, YouTuber, professional film critic, and entrepreneur currently living in Studio City, Los Angeles. The Canadian Singles Chart was a chart compiled by the American-based music sales tracking company, Nielsen SoundScan, which began publication in November 1996. It was published every Wednesday and also published on Thursday by '' Jam!''/Canoe. It was superseded by the '' Billboard''-published Canadian Hot 100 in 2007. History In the 1960s, the Canadian music industry was disparate and regionally focused, and English-speaking Canadian artists were often overlooked in favour of American acts. To encourage a more national focus and ensure that domestic artists were promoted across Canada, the Maple Leaf System (MLS) was set up in 1969. CKAL-DT (channel 5) is a television station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, part of the Citytv network. It is owned and operated by Rogers Sports & Media alongside Omni Television station CJCO-DT (channel 38). CKXT-DT was a terrestrial television, broadcast television station based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada that broadcast to much of southern and eastern Ontario. Broadcast Data Systems (also known as BDS or Luminate BDS), is a service that tracks radio, television and internet airplay of songs. The service, which is a unit of MRC Data, is a contributing factor to North American charts published by co-owned magazine '' Billboard'', including the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Hot 100, when combined with sales and streaming data from Soundscan.
