Jakob Eng
Jakob Eng (25 June 1937 – 2 November 2022) was a Norwegian banker, organizational leader, and politician for the Christian Democratic Party. Early life and career He was born in Karmøy as a son of Thomas Emil Eng (1912–1988) and housewife Aslaug Helene Grindhaug (1915–1999). He took a secondary education with emphasis on economy from 1955 to 1958, and learnt business administration at the Norwegian School of Management from 1959 to 1961. After four years in various companies he was hired in the bank Skudesneshavn Sparebank, and he was the bank director from 1966 until 1984. Politics Eng became involved in local politics, and was a deputy member of Karmøy municipal council from 1967 to 1971. He was elected in 1971, and even became mayor. He served until 1973, then from 1975 to 1981. He was deputy mayor from 1981 to 1982, then mayor again from 1982 to 1984. He was then a regular council member from 1984 to 2003. Christian Democratic Party (Norway)
The Christian Democratic Party ( nb, Kristelig Folkeparti, nn, Kristeleg Folkeparti, se, Risttalaš Álbmotbellodat, , KrF) is a Christian-democratic political party in Norway founded in 1933. The party is an observer member of the European People's Party (EPP). It currently holds three seats in the Parliament, having won 3.8% of the vote in the 2021 parliamentary election. The current leader of the party is Olaug Bollestad. The Christian Democrats' leader from 1983 to 1995, Kjell Magne Bondevik, was one of the most prominent political figures in modern Norway, serving as Prime Minister from 1997 to 2000 and 2001 to 2005. Norwegian Lutheran Mission
The Norwegian Lutheran Mission (''Norsk Luthersk Misjonssamband'' in Norwegian; NLM) is one of several independent Lutheran organisations based in Norway. History The organization was founded in 1891 as Det Norske Lutherske Kinamisjonsforbund (in English: the Norwegian Lutheran Federation for Mission in China). The organisation's international mission was focused on China until that work came to an end in 1949. In 1966 the NLM, in cooperation with several other missional and denominational bodies, was involved in the establishment of the China Lutheran Seminary in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. Halvdan Skard
Halvdan Skard (born 1 December 1939) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Oslo as a son of Åse Gruda Skard and Sigmund Skard, and through Åse the grandson of Halvdan Koht and Karen Grude Koht. He has two sisters Torild Skard and Målfrid Grude Flekkøy, who are twins, and himself has a twin brother Åsmund. He grew up in Trondheim, but when World War II reached Norway in 1940 the family fled to the United States via Sweden, the Soviet Union and Japan, returning in 1945. He later finished his secondary education at Oslo Cathedral School. He studied at the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 1962 to 1963 and in Paris from 1969 to 1970. He graduated with the cand.philol. degree from the University of Oslo in 1972. He joined the Labour Party in 1965, and became involved in local politics, first in Stavanger and later in Bærum.
