Jacqueline Danell Obradors (born October 6, 1966) is an American actress. She has appeared in films such as ''Six Days, Seven Nights'' (1998), '' Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo'' (1999), ''Tortilla Soup'' (2001), '' A Man Apart'' (2003) and '' Unstoppable'' (2004). She is also the voice of Audrey Rocio Ramirez in ''Atlantis: The Lost Empire''. On television, Obradors is known for her role as Det. Rita Ortiz in the ABC crime drama series ''NYPD Blue'' (2001–2005). Early life Obradors was born in the San Fernando Valley, the daughter of Argentine immigrants Angie, a church worker, and Albert Obradors, an office cleaning business owner. The American Latino Media Arts Award or ALMA Award, formerly known as Latin Oscars Award, is an award highlighting the best American Latino contributions to music, television, and film. The awards promote fair and accurate portrayals of Latinos. In Spanish and Portuguese the word ''alma'' means "soul." History The awards were created by UnidosUS (formerly the National Council of La Raza). The first ceremonies were held in 1987 under the name "BRAVO Awards" and broadcast on Univision. The Blockbuster Entertainment Awards was a film awards ceremony, founded by Blockbuster Entertainment, Inc., that ran from 1995 until 2001. They were produced each year by Ken Ehrlich. Formation and first awards The awards were first held on June 3, 1995, at the Pantages Theatre and broadcast on June 6. The idea for the awards show came from Blockbuster marketing executive Brian Woods, who worked on the project for about two years. Blockbuster reportedly saw creating the awards as a way of promoting both the company and also the performers whose records and films were sold in their stores. CBS signed a contract to screen the awards in late 1994, and Ken Ehrlich was hired to produce the show. Winners were determined by votes cast by customers in Blockbuster stores.
