Jacksonville High School is a public high school located in Jacksonville, Alabama, USA, serving grades 7–12. It is part of the Jacksonville City Schools system. Its colors are blue and gold. Until 1998, the school was located adjacent to the Jacksonville State University campus on Pelham Road North. The current school building was built on part of the site of the former Jacksonville Airport. Jacksonville, Alabama
Jacksonville is a city in Calhoun County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2010 census the population was 12,548, which is a 49% increase since 2000. It is included in the Anniston-Oxford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is home to Jacksonville State University, which is a center of commerce and one of the largest employers in the area. History Jacksonville was founded in 1833 on land purchased from Creek Indian Chief "Du-Hoag" Ladiga. First called Drayton, the town was renamed to honor President Andrew Jackson in 1834. Riley Green (born October 18, 1988) is an American country music singer/songwriter. He saw his first success with the single " There Was This Girl" in 2018. He released an album, ''Different 'Round Here'', in September 2019. Born and raised in Jacksonville, Alabama. His songs reflect the influences of his life growing up in a small town in the South. Music career Before he was a recording artist, Green was a Division 1 FCS Quarterback on the Jacksonville State University football team. Thomas David "Todd" Cunningham III (born March 20, 1989) is an American former professional baseball left fielder. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels. High school and college Cunningham was born in Jacksonville, Alabama on March 20, 1989 to David and Brenda Cunningham. He attended Jacksonville High School in his hometown, where he was a three-time first-team All-State selection. Jacksonville State University (JSU) is a public university in Jacksonville, Alabama. Founded in 1883, Jacksonville State offers programs of study in six academic schools leading to bachelor's degree, bachelor's, master's degree, master's, education specialist, and doctorate degrees in addition to certificate programs and continuing education opportunities. In the Fall semester of 2011, JSU began offering the school's first doctoral degree, Doctor of Science in Emergency Management.
