Jackson High School (also referred to as Jackson Senior High or simply JHS), is located in Jackson, Missouri, United States. It consists of grades 9–12 and is a part of the Jackson R-2 School District. The district includes most of Jackson, Burfordville, Gordonville, Millersville, New Wells, Pocahontas, most of Shawneetown, and small sections of Cape Girardeau. History It was established in 1920. One of the original buildings of the school was called Old A. This building stood as a historical landmark until its demolition in 2017 as a result of the voter approved no tax bond, Prop J, which was passed in 2017. A new building has been constructed on the same ground that Old A occupied. The new building is made of new brick and the same limestone that was salvaged from Old A. Jackson is a city in and the county seat of Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, United States. It is a principal city of the Cape Girardeau–Jackson, MO- IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of Jackson was 15,481 at the 2020 census. History In 1813, Cape Girardeau County succeeded Cape Girardeau District, and the Court of Common Pleas and the Court of General Quarter-Sessions of the Peace in Cape Girardeau were superseded by the Court of Common Pleas, leading to a new seat of justice. The seat of the county and the courts were at first held on the plantation of Thomas Bull about one and one-half mile south of present-day Jackson. Land was then purchased along Hubble Creek for the county seat in 1814. The first post office was established in 1814 when the area was called Birdstown. Gary Friedrich (; August 21, 1943 – August 29, 2018) was an American comic book writer best known for his Silver Age stories for Marvel Comics' ''Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos'', and, in the following era, for the series '' The Monster of Frankenstein'' and for co-creating the supernatural motorcyclist the Ghost Rider and the supernatural hero the Son of Satan.
