Jack Taggart
Jack Taggart, Jr. (born February 3, 1950 - May 2022) was a Canadians, Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman. Taggart was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the seventh round (85th overall) of the 1970 NHL Entry Draft. Born in 1950 in Calgary, Alberta, Taggart played with the Canada men's national ice hockey team during the 1968-69 season, and then attended the University of Denver where he played with the Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey team. In January 1970, Taggart suffered serious injuries to his head and jaw as a result of a car accident. Taggart began his professional career in 1970, and played the 1970–71 season with the St. Louis Blues' top farm team, the Kansas City Blues (ice hockey), Kansas City Blues of the Central Hockey League (1963–1984), Central Hockey League. Cincinnati Swords
The Cincinnati Swords were an American Hockey League team that played at the Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1971 to 1974. They were owned by and the affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. History The Swords were founded in 1971 when the newly created NHL team, the Buffalo Sabres, exercised their option to create their own AHL farm team to replace the team they forced out of the AHL, the Buffalo Bisons. The Sabres had wished to place the team in South Florida, but the AHL balked because a team there would have effectively been isolated from the rest of the league; their nearest rivals would have been the Tidewater Wings, over 500 miles away. 1955 World Ice Hockey Championships
The 1955 Ice Hockey World Championships was the 22nd edition of the Ice Hockey World Championships. The tournament was held in Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Krefeld and Cologne, West Germany from February 25 to March 6, 1955. A total of 14 nations participated in this World Championship, which was a new record for the postwar era. As a result, the teams were seeded with the strongest 9 teams placed in Pool A (the championship pool) and the remaining 5 nations as well as the West German B team placed in Pool B. Canada, represented by the Penticton Vees of the Okanagan Senior League, won their 16th international title. For the second straight year both the Soviets and Canadians were undefeated until they played each other in the final game of the tournament. The Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Denver. The Pioneers are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). They play at Magness Arena in Denver, Colorado.
