Jack Regan
John Vincent Regan (12 September 1912 – 11 August 1988) was an Australian rules footballer who represented Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1930s and 1940s. Playing career Recruited from Northcote, Regan struggled in his first few seasons and was tried in a variety of positions before he established himself at full-back. Taking on and matching full-forwards like South Melbourne's Bob Pratt (whom Regan regarded as his most difficult opponent), Carlton's Harry Vallence, Richmond's Jack Titus and St Kilda's Bill Mohr, Regan earned his title as the "Prince of Full-backs". He was a magnificent mark and a superb kick. Archival footage shows him using the now defunct drop kick for his kick-ins. In slow motion they demonstrate his perfect balance and timing. Jack Regan (hurler)
Jack Regan (born 7 August 1995) is an Irish hurler who plays as a full-forward for the Meath senior team. Born in Summerhill, County Meath, Regan first played competitive hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Kiltale club. He eventually became a member of the club's senior team, and has won five county senior championship medals since 2012. Regan made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for the Meath minor team. After winning an All-Ireland medal in his debut year, he had two further championship seasons with the minor team. Regan subsequently joined the Meath under-21 team, winning an All-Ireland medal as captain in 2016. By this stage he had also joined the Meath senior team, making his debut during the 2014 league. Jack Regan (born 9 May 1997) is an Irish rugby union player, currently playing for the Highlanders in Super Rugby and the Mitre 10 Cup side Otago Rugby. He previously played for Irish Pro14 team Ulster Rugby. He plays as a lock. Career Regan started playing rugby underage at Birr RFC in County Offaly and was part of the Leinster under-age set up. Ulster Regan made his senior competitive debut for Ulster in their 54–42 defeat against Leinster in the 2018–19 Pro14 on 20 December 2019, coming on as a replacement in this match. In March 2020 he was released by Ulster. Otago Regan moved to New Zealand where he joined the Dunedin Sharks and was subsequently signed by Otago. ''The Sweeney'' is a 1970s British television police drama focusing on two members of the Flying Squad, a branch of the Metropolitan Police specialising in tackling armed robbery and violent crime in London. It stars John Thaw as Detective Inspector Jack Regan and Dennis Waterman as his partner, Detective Sergeant George Carter. It was produced by the Thames Television subsidiary Euston Films for broadcast on the ITV (TV network), ITV network in the UK between 2 January 1975 and 28 December 1978. The programme's title comes from the real-world Cockney rhyming slang nickname "Sweeney Todd" used to refer to the Flying Squad by London's criminal fraternity in the mid 20th Century. John Edward Reagan (July 13, 1883 – May 18, 1941) was the father of Ronald Reagan, motion picture actor, who served as the 33rd governor of California and 40th president of the United States and radio station manager Neil Reagan. Ancestry Jack's paternal grandfather, Michael O'Regan, was a native of County Tipperary, Ireland. O'Regan worked as a tenant farmer during his early years in Ireland, before he moved to London in 1852. Whilst living there, O'Regan married an Irish refugee named Catherine Mulcahey, and anglicised his family surname to "Reagan". The couple emigrated to Carroll County, Illinois in 1856.Gullan (2001), p. 320 John Michael, their son, became a grain-elevator farmer, and married Jenny Cusick in 1878.
