Jack McCormack (Australian Rules Footballer)
John Joseph McCormack (4 June 1904 – 5 June 1966) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career McCormack, a forward recruited from South Ballarat, played at Richmond for three seasons. He kicked five goals on his league debut, against Footscray at Western Oval in the 15th round of the 1927 VFL season. In round 18 he bettered that tally with six goals in a win over Hawthorn. He was one of Richmond's best players when they defeated Carlton narrowly by six points in the first semi final, with four goals, one of them from a drop kick after the three quarter time bell. In the 1927 VFL Grand Final, which Richmond lost to Collingwood, McCormack was held goal-less at full-forward, but wasn't the only forward to struggle, as the match was played in heavy rain. Full-forward
Full-forward is a position in Australian rules football and Gaelic football with a key focus on kicking goals. The Coleman Medal is awarded to the player, often a full-forward, who has kicked the most goals in an Australian Football League season. In modern Australian rules football and Gaelic football, in which players do not strictly stick to a single position, the full-forward is often referred to as a "Key Forward" and can often switch positions with the centre half-forward for "team balance" reasons. 1930 VFA Season
The 1930 Victorian Football Association season was the 52nd season of the Australian rules football competition. The premiership was won by the Oakleigh Football Club, after it defeated Northcote by nine points in the final on 27 September – a match which was notorious for several violent clashes instigated by Northcote players. It was the club's first VFA premiership, achieved in only its second season of senior competition. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. Preston Football Club (VFA)
The Preston Football Club, which trades and plays as the Northern Bullants, is a long-established Australian rules football club based in Preston that plays in the Victorian Football League (VFL). It plays its home games at the Preston City Oval. The club was established in 1882 as the Preston Football Club. Essendon Football Club
The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. The club was formed by the McCracken family in their Ascot Vale, Victoria, Ascot Vale home "Alisa", and while the exact date is unknown, it is generally accepted to have been in 1872. Gordon Coventry
Gordon Richard James Coventry (25 September 1901 – 7 November 1968) was a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
