Jack Goldsborough
John Goldsborough (31 July 1892 – 7 December 1952) was an English footballer who made 36 appearances in the Football League playing for Lincoln City as a goalkeeper. He went on to play for Boston Town, and in 1922 joined Llanelly as player/trainer. He later became Llanelly manager, in which role he was responsible for Jock Stein signing for the club in 1950. To recognise 25 years service at Llanelly, a benefit match was held for him on 14 June 1947 which saw 12,000 spectators pack into Stebonheath Park to see Cardiff City beat an International XI captained by Billy Hughes. He resigned his post as manager in 1948 following a difference of opinion with the club's committee but was reappointed in May 1949. After leaving Llanelly, Goldsborough returned to his native Sheffield and lived in Woodhouse Mill. Billy Hughes (footballer, Born 1918)
William Marshall Hughes (6 March 1918 – 16 June 1981) was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a left back. He made 169 appearances in the First Division for Birmingham and Chelsea. As an international, he won 10 full caps for Wales and also played for a Great Britain XI in 1947. Career Club career Born in Llanelli, Hughes joined Birmingham from Llanelli A.F.C. in 1934 and made his first-team debut in January 1936 when still only 17; by the time he was 19 he was a regular first choice. He was mature for his age and was described as a ball-winning defender who tried to use the ball constructively once he won it. During the Second World War he made 49 wartime league appearances for Birmingham. While serving in the Royal Air Force he made guest appearances for Blackpool, Swansea Town, Fulham and Chester. The Royal Hospital was an acute general hospital in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. It covered most of the block bounded to the north by West Street, to the east by Westfield Terrace, to the south by Devonshire Street and to the west by Eldon Street. History The facility had its origins in a public dispensary which opened in 1832. It became known as the Sheffield Public Dispensary Hospital after it was extended in 1860 and it became known as the Sheffield Public Hospital after it was extended again in 1870. Stebonheath Park
Stebonheath Park (''Welsh: Parc Stebonheath'') is a multi-use stadium in Llanelli, West Wales with a capacity of 3,700. It is primarily used as a football ground and is the home of Llanelli Town A.F.C. It was also used for athletics and Llanelli Amateur Athletic Club (Llanelli AAC) were based at the stadium. It is owned by Llanelli Town Council. From 2015 West Wales Raiders rugby league club used the stadium for their debut season in the Conference League South and subsequent season in the RFL League 1 until the club withdrew from the league in December 2022.
