Jack D. Walker
Jack D. Walker (April 5, 1922 – September 1, 2005) was an American politician and physician. He served as the 42nd Lieutenant Governor of Kansas from 1987 to 1991. Walker had previously served as a member of the Kansas Senate from the 8th district and mayor of Overland Park, Kansas. He is an alumnus of Pittsburg State University and the University of Kansas. The lieutenant governor of Kansas is the second-ranking member of the executive branch of Kansas state government. The lieutenant governor is elected on a ticket with the governor for a four-year term. The Kansas Senate is the upper house of the Kansas Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. State of Kansas. It is composed of 40 senators elected from single-member districts, each with a population of at least 60,000 inhabitants. Members of the Senate are elected to a four-year term. Dan Thiessen (October 19, 1922–November 17, 2012) was an American politician who served in the Kansas House of Representatives and Kansas State Senate. Thiessen worked as a farmer and rancher in Independence, Kansas Independence is a city in and the county seat of Montgomery County, Kansas, United States. Dick Bond (Kansas Politician)
Richard Lee Bond (September 18, 1935July 23, 2020) was an American politician who served in the Kansas Senate from the 8th district from 1986 to 2001. A member of the Republican Party, Bond also served as the Majority Whip and President of the Senate. Prior to his tenure in the Kansas Senate, he served as an assistant to three members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Bond was born in Kansas and practiced law after graduating from the University of Kansas. He served as a city attorney and as an administrative assistant to Representatives Robert Ellsworth, Larry Winn, and Jan Meyers. In 1986, he was appointed to the Kansas Senate to fill the vacancy caused by Jack D. Walker's election as lieutenant governor. In 1992, he was selected to serve as the Majority Whip for the Republicans and was later selected to serve as the President of the Senate in 1997.
