Jack Carr (billiards Player)
John Carr was an English player of English billiards. He was known as an early exponent of the use of in billiards, and for playing billiards matches for money in the 19th century. Biography In about 1815, Carr took a job as a billiard marker at the Upper Rooms in Bath, a role that involved keeping the score of billiards matches. In this role, his employer John Bartley taught Carr how to play billiards with the use of , which was at that time was a rare skill. Carr would conceal his method by seemingly aiming at the centre of the and only changing to strike to the side of the cue ball when actually playing the shot. Carr would claim that these shots were possible due to the use of a special "twisting ," which he would sell for half a crown a box. The boxes actually contained normal chalk. Jack Carr (footballer, Born 1878)
John Thomas Carr (7 October 1878 – 17 March 1948) was an English professional footballer with Newcastle United between 1899 and 1912, playing at full back, he made 279 appearances, scoring 5 goals. Career Carr won three League Championships and the FA Cup with Newcastle in this successful period of the club's history. He made two appearances for England, both against Ireland, in a 1–1 draw on 25 February 1905 and in a 1–0 victory on 16 February 1907. In 1912, he became a trainer at Newcastle United and would fill this position for the next 10 years. He eventually left the club when Blackburn Rovers made him their manager in 1922. Carr was the coach of the Danish national side at the 1920 Summer Olympics football competition in Antwerp. John Carr (26 November 1892 – 10 May 1942) was an English professional footballer. He made 449 league appearances for Middlesbrough, scoring 81 times. He was also capped twice for England. Playing career Club career Born in South Bank, near Middlesbrough, Carr signed a professional contract with his hometown club on 25 January 1911, after having already played as an amateur. He had four brothers, all of whom played for Middlesbrough: Walter and Harry, who signed as amateurs, and Willie and George, who both signed professional contracts for the club. His debut came on 2 January 1911 against Nottingham Forest in a 2–2 draw. Carr scored both goals in front of a crowd of 15,000. That was the only appearance he made that season, his next game not coming until 27 January 1912. He made only three further appearances that season, scoring one goal. John Carr (12 January 1924 – 18 December 1990) was a Scottish footballer who played as a winger. Career Prior to playing senior football, Carr played at junior level at Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and St Roch's. Carr played senior football for Clyde (during World War II) and Alloa Athletic in Scotland, before signing for Gillingham in June 1948. On 1 September 1948, Carr made his debut for Gillingham in a 5–0 away win against Dartford. Carr scored 12 goals in each of his Southern League seasons with Gillingham, remaining with the club as they won re-election to the Football League in 1950. The inaugural Southern Five-Hundred (Southern 500 since 1951) was an automobile race held at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina on September 4, 1950, as part of the 1950 NASCAR Grand National. Jack Carr (born Frank Carr; May 17, 1906 – February 2, 1967) was an American actor and animator. Biography Jack Carr was born Frank Carr on May 17, 1906, in Bayonne, New Jersey to James and Bridgett O'Donnell Carr, Irish immigrants. He was one of eight children. Carr worked for a number of animation studios and was a credited animator since at least the early 1930s. When, in 1930, Charles Mintz found a cartoon distributor in Columbia Pictures and moved his operations to California, Mr. Carr was amongst his staff; whilst working at the Warner Bros. Jack Carr is an American author of thriller novels and former Navy SEAL officer. Biography Jack Carr was born into a military family and his mother was a librarian which gave him access to many books. He developed interests in authors such as Tom Clancy, Nelson DeMille and Louis L'Amour. When Carr first learned about the United States Navy SEALs at the age of 7, he decided that that was the career he was going to pursue. Carr joined the U.S. Navy in 1996. Carr then received orders to Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training (BUD/S) at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. After six months of training, Carr graduated with BUD/S class 212.
