Jaan Klõšeiko
Jaan Klõšeiko (10 September 1939, Tallinn – 21 December 2016, Tallinn) was an Estonian printmaker and photographer. Klõšeiko graduated from Tallinn Secondary School No. 22 in 1958. He continued his studies at the Estonian Academy of Arts and graduated in 1964 with a specialty in graphic arts. Klõšeiko worked at the publishing houses Valgus and Eesti Raamat, at the magazine Noorus and at the newspaper Televisioon. He was the head designer of Kunst in 1975. He also designed soundboard covers, worked as a photographer and captured cultural history events and people of culture, and the like. He participated in art and photo exhibitions from 1965, and was a member of the Estonian Artists' Union from 1979 to his death. Klõšeiko was a signatory of the Letter of 40 intellectuals in 1980. The Estonian Academy of Arts ( Estonian: ''Eesti Kunstiakadeemia'', EKA) is the only public university in Estonia providing higher education in art, design, architecture, media, art history and conservation-restoration. Letter Of 40 Intellectuals
The Letter of 40 intellectuals, also The letter of 40 ( et, Neljakümne kiri), originally A public letter from Estonian SSR ( et, Avalik kiri Eesti NSV-st) was a public letter dated October 28, 1980 and posted a week later, in which 40 intellectuals attempted to defend the Estonian language and expressed their protest against the recklessness of the Republic-level government in dealing with youth protests that were sparked a week earlier due to the banning of a public performance of the band Propeller. The real reasons were much more deep-seated, and had to do primarily with the Russification policies of the Kremlin in occupied Estonia. The letter was addressed to the newspapers ''Pravda'', ''Rahva Hääl'' and '' Sovetskaya Estoniya''. None of these nor any other Soviet publication printed the letter. Metsakalmistu
Metsakalmistu (meaning ''Forest Cemetery'') is a cemetery in the Pirita district of Tallinn. Metsakalmistu was originally planned to be a public medieval cemetery. Eduard Vilde was the first to be buried in 1933. The original area of the cemetery was 24.2 hectares, but has since expanded to be 48.3 hectares. Metsakalmistu was officially opened in 1939. That same year, 15 people were buried in the cemetery. In 1939, the nearby Kloostrimetsa Farm cemetery was created, which eventually, through expansion, became part of an expanded Metsakalmistu. At first, the designers of the cemetery were unanimous about the general design requirements of the cemetery, but the area was still dominated by the appearance of a wild forest.
