JJ (Swedish Band)
JJ, styled as jj, is a Swedish band who has released music through the Gothenburg-based independent label Sincerely Yours (record label), Sincerely Yours and the Bloomington, Indiana-based label Secretly Canadian. The band consists of Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander. History jj met in their hometown of Vallentuna, outside of Stockholm, and began playing together at a local youth center. They released their debut jj n° 1 in early 2009 and a couple of months later they released their debut album ''jj n° 2''. Both the debut single and the debut album received a ''Best New Music'' inclusion from Pitchfork Media with ratings of 8 and 8.6 respectively. On December 24, 2008 it was announced that the American record label Secretly Canadian had signed jj to their roster. At the same time, the release date for jj's second full length album was slated. Vallentuna
Vallentuna is the seat of Vallentuna Municipality in Stockholm County, Sweden, with 33,219 inhabitants in 2018. Vallentuna's cultural landscape is well preserved, and human habitation in the area has been traced back as far as the Stone Age. Archeological excavations in southern Vallentuna, near Lilla Gävsjö, uncovered remains of a Stone Age settlement. ''Kills'' is a mixtape by jj, released on Christmas Eve 2010. Background The mixtape was first mentioned by Elin from jj in a video interview for Swedish National Television while on tour in Europe. The title for the mixtape was though never revealed. First when the lead single from the mixtape, "Let Them", was released on October 12, the title of the mixtape was revealed to be ''Kills'' (also ''jj kills'' or ''jj fucking kills''). Being a mixtape, ''Kills'' was released completely for free, as a direct download, at Sincerely Yours website on Christmas Eve 2010. After just three days since being released, ''Kills'' had been downloaded more than 30,000 times, a number generated from only two of the several file hosting services. After one week of release, the number had increased to over 42,000 downloads, and as of January 21, 2011, ''Kills'' had been downloaded over 80,000 times from these two links alone. The Xx
The xx are an English indie rock band from Wandsworth, London, formed in 2005. The band consists of Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass guitar, vocals), Jamie Smith, also known as Jamie xx (beats, MPC, record production), and formerly Baria Qureshi (keyboard, guitar).
